well...… if you want to go down that road, then ALL hunters should be using sticks and stones. What makes non native hunters so special that they get to use the tools of modern man.
Your argument simply has zero logic if your underlying train of thought is that we should all be "equal".
yes its been going on for a long time but lots have come to a head with your buddy in power lol
Or a landowner like me who didn't care if people hunted without asking. Now the government has decided that hunters must get permission to hunt my land even though I never required it. So do I still control my land or does the government?
This law will do nothing to stop criminals and poachers.
Govt has decided that you can't have a meth lab or a brothel on your property either, so you are right you don't have control of your land. Govt has decided that if you don't pay your taxes they seize your land...You've never been in control of your land since you took possession of it.
So lets just have no laws, is that your line of thinking? All landowners should follow the doctrine of skhunter and just let anyone on their land to do as they wish?
Whether you like it not the rules have changed here Sask, don't like you could always sell your property and move.
Not only that but if they want to hunt according to their traditions, let them stick to spears, bows, and knifes and use horses to get around. If they want to use modern equipment they should be forced to abide by the Law as per the rest of Canadian hunters. So much for equality in Canada.
Hey will everyone just step back then ask yourself this question first before you start to judge our "First Nation" people? If you look at what I just put into quotes you will notice that they were here in North America FIRST (thus First Nations) before we as non natives forced them to into submission. Placing them on the worst lands in the nation and expecting them to survive. Which is hard to do as they were hunters gatherers and lived off what nature gave them and they believed in keeping everything in balance. Do some research on residential schools you'll be utterly shocked at what white men did to brake the FN spirits to comply with and restrictions put on who was allowed to leave the reserve and how long they were to be gone and the results of not returning on time. Once you have done your full research, rethink what your ideas of our FN people then you will need to apologize to them as well.
As far as I am concerned we need to apologize to each and every one of them for the way they have been mistreated since 1878 as sub humans. You certainly won't live that way then why should they!
Note: if you do any in depth research you will also find that with the government restriction in place, if they live off the reasurves they lose their status cards and are not allowed to participate in and government funding, grants or settlements dispersed.
And you think you have it hard, really?
If you think I am off base then ask any humanities professors in any university near you if what I said was true. I learned all this myself at the
University of Windsor.

They never had horses until Europeans brought them over....
Read someplace awhile ago that they never hunted moose until then either, we're scared of them.
Notice no one ever says/will admit the arrival of europeans effectively ended slavery in this country?
If you think that "Truth" is taught in universities you are fool.[/QUOTE
When I think back on my university education in the 90's (seems much worse now), some of the professors I had were incredibly biased in one direction. I'm sure everyone can guess which direction that was.

The British had slaves.
Serious question for some of the people in this thread. If you really think the Indians have this incredible level of influence, don't you think they'd start by getting their reservations clean water?
