Did ruger ever make a 16 inch compact in 358? Or a 16 inch American?

Looks like there was a run of carbine M77s in the late 80s as well as a Frontier model.

Just recently purchased a Hawkeye in .358win.
Barrel isn't that short, but shure temptin to do so.

The original M77 had a carbine version with a 18.5" barrel and sights, as well as 22" barreled version with both sights and plain barrels.

I cut my Hawkeye stainless 358 to 19 inches. It's great! You won't be sorry

Ruger has done the .358 Win in several versions. The original M77 "R" 22" flat bolt and standard, the M77 RS 18.5" and 20" carbines, the Mark II Standard "R" 22" and a 25 piece run of Mark II International (RSI) 18.5" (1993), the Mark II Frontier 16.5" Target Grey and Blued, the Hawkeye Standard "R" 22" All-Weather and Blued (ugly matte), the Hawkeye Basketweave Standard American Walnut & Circassion walnut versions, and now the American runs. I have owned all of these except the American version... and I am probably forgetting one or two.
