the poor quality materials kill it for me
Yes its "pot metal" technicaly. Its ZAMAK. An aluminum alloy. Zinc, aluminum, magnesium and copper. There's a long list of gun manufacturers that use it. And it's also used to manufacture structural components that may surprise you. Not a hang-up for me at all. MIM is used primarily for the firearms industry, so saying MIM turns you off doesn't completely make sense. Just like you don't see the heads of many golf clubs break in half or crack, you're unlikely to have issues. Modern smelting has resolved the impurity issues that made "pot metal" questionable many years ago.
^ I hear ya. It's a $500 gun, and somewhat of a novelty. Obviously not a custom machined CZ. Built to appeal to a certain market. The MIM and ZAMAK process of manufacturing in no way make it unsafe though. As far as lasting generations, maybe, maybe not. It won't rust at least.
But to appeal to your original post, Yes, making it NR, made it pretty ugly. At least we have the option to buy one though.

Retail looks like $750 for the R and $800 for the NR.
I was reading a thread the other day, someone had one of the .22 versions break in half...cheesy materials IMHO.
Not sure how the 9mm version differs.
