Just shopping for mags and wonder with all the brands , do they have to say " fits lar 15 pistol " 's vs just saying 5.56 . in case one is ever challenged on the 10 Rd capacity? thanks
Without the label these magazines are a menacing evil that threatens to tear the very fibers of our fragile society to shreds in an armageddon of mass public violence, and are therefore illegal.
To be specific, they don't necessarily have to say LAR pistol. Simply saying PISTOL mag should suffice, but since the RCMP only recognize the LAR as being a designated pistol built on an AR platform, having them say LAR pistol increases the odds the RCMP will deem them legal.

What about an LAR 15 pinned to 5 rounds for hunting? Is that kosher? Can anyone put a rivet in a mag?
Not just LAR pistol mags, but pistol mags for any pistol sold in Canada that also fit rifles.
Why not just use a regular AR mag...

Bill Etter's 'ruling' (when referring to the Rock River Arms Model LAR-15 magazines) included:
These particular designs are approved for use as "handgun magazines for a handgun commonly available in Canada"
