Hey there, I am starting to look around for a different tactical shotgun. I currently have a maverick 88 with an 18.5 inch barrel, and would like to get in to something in the semi auto flavor.

I would like one that has or could have a 6 position stock on it, an 18-20 inch barrel, black in color and that is semi automatic. 12 gauge preferred(mag fed semi auto would be cool!)

Do they make such a thing? Im not against buying a lower end or chinese brand either as I pretty much just plink with it, carry it along in the bush sometimes, that sort of thing.

Thanks for any help or recommendations for my noob tactical question!

What price range are you looking in?

There are a number of option. The MK12 deyra comes to mind. Best bet is to check out the black and green shotgun forum in detail.

In my opinion and experience one of the coolest, most reliable, and most ergonomical semi-auto magfed 12ga's is the Final Defense FD12. As a bonus it takes AS46 pump gun 10rd mags as well. Although it does have a fixed stock which is an inherent design feature of the bullpup format, but it also shortens up the overall length by about 8 or 10" while still having a 18.5" or greater barrel to maintain NR status.

A collapsible stock like you're wanting usually doesn't bode well with semi-auto because of the recoil tube that extends off the receiver into the stock. Ones you can look into are the Benelli M4 or its Turkish knockoff, as they have a stock that slides up and down that recoil tube.

Otherwise the Derya Mk12 fits your bill, though I'm personally touchy when it comes to any gun that has effectively no spare parts available and your only option should something break is buy a new one.

That might change now that Tactical ordinance is planning on making accessories/parts for the Derya MM12.

Derya MK12 is the answer. Got one, its aweome. No issues with it, and comes with an awesome package of accessories and cool carrying case.

If you're into buying once and remaining happy through the ages, I'd suggest a Beretta 1301 tactical. Incredible piece all around. Plus, you could still hunt it if you wanted.

But you'd have to do away with those silly mags to get on board ;) Kidding.

One more for the 1301. I had the shorter version of the Competition model imported. Fun gun.

No telescoping stock, but that’s not much of a compromise for a flawless trouble free gun

X3, GEN2 Beretta 1301 Tactical w Nordic +2 ext, and Mesa tactical LEO collapsible hydraulic pistol grip kit for the 1301. Purchased through Tactical Ordnance. Easy to handle, light (under 7 pds), replaceable Choke, very easy to takedown and clean.
