Are there any restrictions on importing reloading components[bullets] from the US?
I see ''Cheaper than Dirt'' has some speer .366 270 gr bullets for about $16 -but they do not ship outside the US.Is it legal to ship to a US address-then bring them back across the border without import hassles?

Export controls apply to components.

the problem here is if you cal can customs they say up to 5000K

but the us gov requires an export permit dont break us laws if you like to travel at all.....


you must be a us citizen to apply for the permit and thier are fees

"...up to 5000K..." That's for loaded ammo and you'd still need the U.S. export permit. You can't legally buy or be in possession of any ammo, Stateside, without the proper permits. All this is covered on the ATF's site.
"...without import hassles..." Importing isn't the issue. U.S. export laws are. If you get inspected by the U.S. Homeland Security types and don't have the export permit, you'll be arrested.

Can you? Sure. Can you do it legally? That's the question. You cannot get a US export permit. The US exporter does that. As a non-resident alien can you be in possession of ammunition? No, unless you have obtained the correct paperwork. But that won't be for export.

I have done it lots but there are so many stories floating around....and the $ is nearly at par now....not worth the risk.

That would be an example of legally acquired ammuntion purchased under a hunting licence and a Form 6. But that is nothing to do with export.

So in this example, where you already possess the ammo, you still need a US resident to get the export permit?

I assume most hunting ammo would get left behind then?

To add to this, for the Us to get the export permit, you need to get an import permit from EXCOL.

You can buy using a hunting licence, but the you will already have a state hunting licence from the state that you are buying from, form 6, and be there.
