Tikka t1x or Ruger Precision .22? Piggy bank is getting close to one of them.

I've probably responded in this thread...but if the OP is still looking..I'd say Tikka, but I'd also look at the total amount of $ you want to spend. If you creep north of $1,000 with upgrades...I can't help but suggest you seriously consider an Anschutz instead. I love my 2 CZ 452s, both are plenty accurate for hunting and gophering...but for targets, I shoot my Anschutz 64 MPR. More accurate than either CZ, and an absolutely stellar trigger.

Some guys get the best gun they can at the start, others start with a platform and "build" the gun they want. Nothing wrong with either approach, just depends on how you're wired.
 
The CZ is a good alternative option with their nice little assembly line standard offerings like factory pillar bedded actions, etc. They will still likely need trigger work unless you draw a lucky straw and get one with a good trigger out of the box.

Jerry says a 10/22 can be made to shoot. I have not yet personally seen one that will shoot truly small groups but Jerry has a “Mystical” touch and if he says he can make ‘em shoot, they will shoot!!!

On a limited budget, I’d still go for the Tikka at $650, you don’t need to spend any more on the gun itself to have competitive accuracy- it’s true, accuracy is primarily a function of good barrels

Considering his personal 10/22 put two shooters #1 and #2 in the last R-PRS match in Merrit I would say he can make 'em shoot :)

Not a Bench rest rifle by any stretch but it did very well under CRPS match conditions. Pretty sure 3rd through to 7th were Vudoos....

Same barrel specs are possible for T1X, Ruger PRimfire, CZ455/457's and if you have support of a gunsmith, Savage MkII's

Has proven very accurate out to 400yds with the right type of ammo... I run Lapua CenterX.

Bought the Ruger Precision Rimfire LR this week, broke it in today with ammo that wasn't performers, namely CCI Mini Mag. I'm looking forward to CCI Standard Velocity and Federal Targets to see what others experienced. No FTEs so far but had to jam a couple home. I like this platform, considered a Savage B22 but went this route. Take 'er easy.

That was yesterday, today it wouldn't feed anything properly. It seems like the mags sag in the front causing the bullet to jam. I think Tikka is the way to go.

ive got the t1x, it was accurate out of the box, always worked perfectly. im just a meddler and put a match barrel and a KRG bravo stock on it. last weekend i put 10 rounds through a 3/4" hole at 50 yards. you can probably get one second hand from the EE and save some coin that way.IMG_20190815_154317.jpgIMG_20190815_153952.jpg

Unpopular opinion here: I've managed to get some very acceptable accuracy from the Ruger RPR (just under 1/2" at 45yards) with CCI Std, SK rifle match and Eley Force.

Most ammo seems to group well and being a chassis system, it matches up well as a trainer if you have a chassis style Centrefire PRS rifle.

Nice shooting... musta been the MPOD :)

Glad the IBI is working well for you. Big difference between the SV and Eley force.

Just so there’s NO confusion, my post quoting Jerry was NOT sarcasm laced - quite the opposite. On the CGN forums, it’s often hard to tell given some of the posters and posts. I’ve never met the man personally, but I do know him by reputation and I have seen some of his considerable contributions to our sport and have tremendous respect for him both as a shooter and as an accuracy guru.

Beautiful rifle! Some nice shooting there as well.

If I may ask, how much did the barrel set you back? Who screwed it on for you?

And forgive my ignorance, but why is the barrel flared to a larger diameter at the end?

Lastly, what scope do you have on there?

barrel price was 400 without the taxes and shipping from Jerry ( mystic precision ), you can actually do it yourself if youre capable as its only 3 set screws that hold it in place. but, i had issues setting headspace and some other issues which were resolved by my local gunsmith Rob Wise. im not 100% sure why they flare the end of the barrel but that is the profile IBI uses. i was a bit hesitant at first when, but now that i have it on i really dont mind it. as for scope, it is a Cabelas Covenant 6-16x44 MOA FFP. for 350 ish bucks its a very capable scope, however eye relief is finicky but still useable.

the mpod is absolutely amazing, that thing is rock solid. as for the difference between SV and force, i was quite surprised. i had a lot of vertical with all my test groupings of force. SV and the Sk match were both pretty similar.

Glad the barrel and MPOD are to your liking... each barrel will have its preference and a stable platform will let you see what works best.

If you get the chance, give Lapua CenerX and Midas+ a try

I know this is post is about rimfire's but I just wanted to address the comment that Ruger factory products are not accurate. This is from my factory Ruger Precision 6.5 Creedmoor. Five shots @ 100 yards. The one outside the group was me, not the rifle.

I don't think you will go wrong with either of those rifles. Or a CZ for that matter. BUY ALL THE GUNS! :runaway:

That's impressive. Does your Ruger Precision 6.5 Creedmoor shoot like that all the time?

Impressive but irrelevant

The RPR is not known to outcompete a cz... strictly middle of the road rifle. long range .22 competitions bore this out
