What is the market value for a 1940 Luger P08 with all matching numbers, eagle stamps, original magazine and converted to Restricted? I am a bit confused since search comes up from 1700 up to 2500.

Thanks in advance.

A collectible P'08 in superior condition can easily bring $1200. Add the cost of rebarrelling - that is going to be some hundreds more. So that is what might be invested.
Problem is, rebarrelling pooches the collector value.
Basically, how much is it worth to you to have a restricted P'08?

Rebarrelling might "pooch" the value in the US but it actually adds value here in Canada. There is a much larger pool of potential buyers for a restricted P08 than an original prohib. version. Peter at lugercollector dot com seems to have no problem moving restricted P08's for anywhere from mid teens up to 2K+ depending on condition, model and vintage. FWIW I'm told rebarrelling usually runs around $400 to whatever is paid for the prohib. Lugercollector lists here in the EE from time to time as a business member as well and the restricted versions always seem to sell quite quickly.

Typically $1800-2200 ish depending on condition. Matching magazine and holster push the up the value.
I also have purchased from Lugecollector and he emailed me a price guide on how to properly value your Luger.
