What Services are Switching to M&P?

I heard that The Peel Regional Police Service (1,423 MOF's) is switching to M&P's.

Just out of curiosity, what other Canadian services are switching?

I shot with a Brinks driver a couple of days ago and he said they are using M&P40s.....

I never thought I'd get anything out of shooting the M&P -just another plastic pistol, but now it's the reason I go to the range. If I'd been a fan of plastic guns I would be ecstatic with it, as it is it's a very impressive piece of equipment. I think we'll see more agencies switching.

Can anyone definitively confirm details of what Brinks is getting? I work for Brinks in Victoria, and although I expect we'll be the last branch in the country to get anything new, I'm considering buying an M&P for myself and am basing my decision on this. Rumours abound, but I can't even find anyone at our branch who can provide any certainty. I'd really appreciate confirmation of make, model, calibre, options, mag capacity, number of mags, and ammunition manufacturer / bullet weight.

Only new members from Peel Regional are getting the new M&P, as of right now. I guess they will transition the current members over the next few years. I have yet to see any M&P's but my best friend who is a D/C with Peel says they are out there. This is suppose to harmonize the weapons. Get rid of the few Sigs and S&W Chief spls that a few smaller sized people had to be issued.

My neighbors across the street are an RCMP couple, wife is Langley and husband is Surrey. He told me they carry the M&P 9mm, but they are in the process of evaluating a 10mm of some sort and will probably switch to that in the future.

I don't honestly know. He specifically told me it was the M&P, that's why I said that. Although I have to say that they are not really "gun" people...just so happens that the job they're in requires them to carry and possibly use one. They're not "enthusiasts".

Mounties MAY be switching to M&P .40 in the future.

For now, it is still the 5946.

S&W is still making the 5946 for the RCMP. Don't believe they will be switching in the near future.
