Flash hider needed?

According to the US AMU a target crown is more accurate than a flash hider. A1 flash hiders are better than A2s and A1s can be improved by opening them up to .500" inside.
 
Not so much the flash hider but the real advantage is in a well crowned threated barrel, where the flash hider can be replaced with a muzzle brake. When shooting fast or slow, the advantages of reduced recoil and more consistant followup shots are noteworthy even for the f-class people who the majority run some sort of brake... Probably one that is custom and more than likely cost more than any one of my pump shotguns.lol
 
You don't need it unless you're shooting in low light, but a "black" rifle looks kind of funny with a plain muzzle.

You will lose sight of the target longer due to muzzle flash at dawn and under low light conditions. You eyes may need time to readjust after firing. If you always shoot under broad day light outside, it is not a problem.

Some sort of muzzle device also prevents dirt and damages directly to the crown.

I thought muzzle brakes were prohibited at most every F-Class match.
 
When I was shooting F-class, not one shooter on the line had a brake or flash hider of any sort.
