Stag 10 precision mount suggestions

So I dropped some cash on a 4.5-21x50 DMR IIi for my 6.5 Stag.

I know through reading that opinions vary from amazing value to really decent mid-level. At any rate it's going on my Stag and I think it's more than enough scope for a gas gun hoping to to do 6-800 m, maybe a 1000 if I get the chance on a range.

So what decent mounts should I consider? I really like the legend of SPUHR although price sucks. The rifle weighs a ton as it has the PRS stock and BA 22" barrel so the SPUHR weight doesn't really matter.

Locally I think I can get Geissle cantilever, Vortex cantilever. Or I could go with decent rings. I prefer a QD or screwed on one piece mount (i know some argue QD may not be as accurate or return to zero)

So what would Gunnutz go with for a Stag 10 precision build? Does it matter on a gas gun? I know I'd like 40mm + in height maybe 42 or 44mm. The other thing is whether I should stick with a 0moa/mil base. For my grounds (100 to hopefully 800m I should be good with a zero mount. I guess if I'm.stayong 600+ meters out i may want to consider that upgrade down the road.

The Geissele will cost nearly as much as the Spuhr but there's no question they are really nice mounts. I think Arms East has the Geissele on sale.

I believe the Vortex Precision line is a step above their other mounts and they are made in the US.

I've had really good luck with the ADM QD mounts and the only thing I don't really like is the side clamp ring setup which makes mounting and leveling a pain. They return to zero for me though and are quick on and off.

If you're not going to be moving the scope on and off the gun often though the 1/2" nut a lot of mounts use is pretty easy.

Keep in mind you'll need the right height for your scope and some cant if you want. With the adjustable cheek piece on the PRS stock you have some leeway on the height.

I think it definitely matters on a gas gun these can be very accurate systems and your scope mount is integral to accuracy.

I've used Nightforce unimounts, Kinetic Development QD mounts, ADM QD, Spuhr, and Leupold one piece mounts and they all return to zero when taking them on and off.

Personally I'd go with that Geissele if you don't mind spending the $$.

ADM
Spuhr QD
Tier One
Geissele
G&G Socom 2
Larue
Benro
Warne QD Xskel
Midwest QD
MDT is available in 1 piece
Aero ultralight 1 piece
DNZ 1 piece
Nightforce 1 piece
Badger 1 Piece
Scalarworks

There are a tone of nice 1 piece mounts available
I like Spuhr, ADM, Tier One and Scalarworks the best, but I think you'd be good to go with any quality set.

You don't need a cantilever mount with the Stag, the rail/upper receiver is longer than an AR-15. If you're going to stick with a 0 MOA mount, I'd suggest having a look at the new MDT one piece mount, I have an HDMR2 in one on a bolt gun of mine, it's a super solid unit. For my Stag (6.5) I went with a Badger Ordnance unimount (in 30mm, for a LRTSi 3-12)because I wanted to have 20 MOA of cant (since I have access to 1500 yards+) and I wanted to be able to have a pic rail top cap for a RDS. I've had Badger rings in the past and there is nothing bad to be said about them. Lots of good options.

FWIW I use ADM (One ADM and one Vortex rebrand), SPUHR, and Near Alpha mounts. All have great return to zero, maybe 1/8 MOA on the ADMs (both QD) and the other two I dont see a lick of change if torqued consistently (both bolted). I've been eyeing up the new MDT and Geissele's, I'm probably going to do the MDT. They're a smoking deal for what you get and I've had great luck with their other stuff.

I doubt you'll be going back and forth between irons and optics so I wouldn't let QD weigh into your decision too much but it shouldn't deter you either.

Don't go 0 moa. You will kick yourself later when you want to start stretching it out. Even though the DMR IIi has a good amount of elevation, most scopes don't perform well with elevation near maxed. Go 20 moa, it will have no ill effect at short range but keep your adjustment further from max at distance.

Yeah, it's a 102 and not a Stag... however, I installed Burris XTR Signature Rings - 34mm -
High - 420211. With the inserts, it is possible to make 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 or 40 MOA of cant in the scope mount.

I wanted the scope to be mounted as close to the handguard as possible. And for the price, this is a great option.
As long as the rings are mounted on the upper all is good. The cheek weld is low, so as long as this fact is good for you, all is good.

BTW the scope is a Bushnell Elite Tactical DMR IIi 3.5-21x50 G3 Illuminated, and I love it!

Thanks. I appreciate the logic.

Nice. How have you been shooting with it?

I am going to start with a Burris PEPR 34mm mount with 20MOA can. See how things fit up... my Athlon Ares ETR has long eye relief and comparing to my bolt rifle, the scope will be well forward of the action to keep the layout similar.

Otherwise, I would put them into the 1.5" Burris XTR Sig rings... love those rings, rock solid, can shim a bunch, hold like glue.
