Hi guys

So I have a 14.5 dominion arms AR, recently I bought a DD 10.3 upper and decides to let the old 14.5 upper go.

I called the CFO and informed them about the barrel length change, they were so confused by saying "we don't have Dominion arms DA556 in 10.3 length in FRT" and they had to add a new FRT number for it.....

I explained that AR15's upper swap is very simple and it is still a DA556 after the upper swap.

They told me they had to add a new FRT number because there is no 10.3 DA556 exist......Now that all is done, is this correct way how they handle the information change?

Cheers.

I’m several weeks into a request to change a scorpion to a barrel length they don’t have in the FRT 30 seconds worth of work...

As a Verifer this is something I go through quite often, usually they are super quick on adding Children (ya weird terminology) to the FRT's (the Parent). I have on a few occasions had them also contact the owner after the changes have been made to their system asking for very detailed pictures to Verify what info has already been supplied. With AR pattern rifles in my experience it is SUPER quick, with the Scorpion it may take longer, especially if it is a R to NR change.

After my initial call to update my certificate, I had to call them to confirm the barrel length on one of my changes. Had to tell them it was a 15.7" Colt Canada barrel that I was putting on a DD lower. It took several weeks.

That's the stupid part. Multiple calls for the same info. Feels like fishing or test of patience. You can hear the gears grind and smoke when a combination doesn't come up. They need calibre but that's not on the certificate? Imagine the lack of service if they restrict even more guns.

The other big thing when it comes to all this is who and where they work in the whole system. I have a direct line to the lab (no I will not share it) and usually have good results.

Might be a thought to call a verifier and get them to ask the lab for the "Child" additions, the Lab may give us like a +1 in trust over the -1 they give normal folks calling in.

You only have to call in when frame (stripped lower) changes to a rifle (completed lower), i.e. able to discharge ammunition.

Flipping uppers around the lower is not a permanent modification.

Refer to standard conditions on your reg. cert.

What kind of bugs me is that as a verifier you still have to send in piles of pictures to show that you know what you are doing, able to measure a barrel properly.
this was for a few 12-6 to restricted. I presume you are talking about the extension #, or cell #?
I do have my CFO cell #, handy as hell, and I don't share that.

No, with stuff like this the Provincial CFO's are have nothing to do with it. It all goes to the Lab in Ottawa, that's where the brain trust that makes the decisions that we live and die by work out of. And in fairness, lots of really good folks there, atypical of the folks we usually have to deal with over the phone.
