So I am trying settle on what cartridge to chamber my rifle. It's going to be built on a long action R700 and am thinking Sendaro contour barrel. Gun will be for some long range plinking( probably 700 yard or less) and it may make a trip or two to the hunting shack for a deer.

As cost is always an issue I would like to use one of the following as I am already set up to load with lots of components already on hand.

1) 300 WM
2) 300 Weatherby mag
3) 7 mm RM

I know they would all do the job very well but in your oppinions is one inherently better ?

Thanks in advance for any advice

my uncles recently won a raffle for some 7mm rifle. he let me use it the other day on his property, were had some pretty tight grouping at ~400 yards. cant say much about the other calibers though.

If you are going to brake it, 300mag with the 212's and heavier are good long range hard hitting medicine.
No brake 7mm will be more pleasant to shoot, and will launch high BC pills at impressive speeds. I did brake mine just to see hits, Thruster is a great brake, rifle is like shooting a 243.
Don't even consider the Weatherby.
My buddy shoots a 300, I shoot the 7mm, both are easy hitters out to our 1000m range and very accurate. The big difference is when he hits steel it moves, when I do it doesn't. Much more long range energy in the heavy 300 pills.

Wyatt box in your m700 and you're set

I'd be inclined to go 7mm rem mag or 7mm WSM, 7mm rsaum, 300 WSM. Get the most out of the longer magazine. I'll have to read up on the 300PRC some more.

I have a Wyatt's box in my 300 RUM. Nice to have the longer OAL but with the matching Wyatt's extended follower it hits the bottom metal and limits me to 2 round capacity. I could switch back to the 3.66" RUM follower but I foolishly gave it away and would probably have issues with it tilting in the longer mag box.
