Savage 10fp with 30" Pac-Nor Barrel, Badger rings/bases, Falcon Menace scope.

She shoots much better then she looks. :)

Its a 1:8 twist, Loaded up with 27grs of Varget topped off with CCI450 primers.Likes the Hornady A-Max 105gr's, 80gr Bergers the list goes on, actually i'm trying to find a bullet it doesn't like they all seem to shoot well. :)

So how is that Choate stock working out for you? Glad to see others running the same stock. I keep reading that people have mixed feelings about it. I couldn't be more happier with mine. They look fine to me.
 
Nice rig! What sort of velocities are you getting with only 27 grains under 105's? It seems the sweet spot for 105's seems to be about 2800 - 2900 and I personally haven't met too many people that can get there with less than 30 gr. of varget.

I'm inspired though, it's worth a try! What are you using for a seating depth?
 
Are those Choate Stocks ordered with custom barrel channels for various barrel contours or are they customizable to your needs?

Rig looks great, what kind of groups are you getting at what distances?

Pretty sure the channels come in one size. With my Savage heavy barrel there's almost half a cm on either side. I was wondering if the extra space would help keep the barrel cooler with increased air flow around it?

Any idea what the channel measures? I am assuming that it would accommodate a 1.20" Diameter barrel?

Its comfortable for me, Works great. I chopped the bottom of the stock and purchased the choate cheekpiece and buttstock Spacer Pak from Brownells. I really like the feel now.

Thanks, Not sure on the velocities, don't have a chrony to measure. But i'm sure my good buddy will let me borrow. Curious to see the ES & SD. :)
Just started my ladder, which is very exciting but eventually I will slowly work up around 30grs to see what happens, so far it shoots well, No complaints. Seated slightly jammed into the lands. OAL from Ogive = 2.726

Thanks, I believe its just one standard size, My heavy palma contour sits in there with plenty of room.
It shoots in the .3's and under @ 100 and 1.5" and under @ 300yrds on calm days, windy days opens up around 2". I'm sure i could squeeze more out of it but I'm happy with the results so far. Haven't played around much @ 200yrds but have some rounds made up so I will have 2 do some testing. Hopefully today!

2.726 OAL to Ogive?

Are you using a Comparator for that measurement because that seems awfully long.

I am using the Lapua Scenars (pictured) right now but also have some of the 107 SMK's to try out and see which shoot better

Barrel is a 1:8 twist and I am getting about 1/2 MOA or better @ 200m with the right load and if I do my part. I hope to shrink it to 1/4 MOA consistently if at all possible.
