From SMGLee @ MP.net:

HK has signed an agreement with Wilcox Industries to produce HK 416, 417, and HK45 State side for US consumptions.

Not sure exact what components within those weapon Wilcox systems will manufacture in house or sub out, but for certain that Wilcox will produce those guns under license for HK.

Not to get too happy yet, this does not mean the 416, 417 nor the HK45 will automatically become available to the US civilian market, there is no words on what HK will be doing with those US produced weapons. but at least this is a start. I believe this is just for HK to further support the US. LE and Mil market.

Good news indeed that those great weapon systems will be state side.

We should be hearing an official HK news release within the next couple of weeks.

GT and I where talking about this one last week.

Wilcox is well known within the USSOC community for stuff. However they never really release stuff for commerical sale (the PRI Aimpoint mount is a copy of the Wilcox original initally issued)

I beleive they have acquired the same type of barrel machines (for cold hammer forging) that Diemaco/Colt Canada, FN and KAC have.

Will they release it for contractors?

LOL - I wish - but PMC's weapons are typically source via US DOS or DOD on a .gov end user.
So unless BigRed and I miraculously get the compnay to buy them - no -- and then they would not be our - and even if they did sell them to us individually we could not take them out of Iraq.

The article doesn't say anything about the 416 and 417. It just says ".45 caliber pistols and rifles". For all we know, those rifles could be G36s, UMPs or even MP5s. In any case, they won't be made by HK and Willcox's greatest claim to fame so far has been an aimpoint mount I believe.

I'm not surprised HK chose to partner up with a small and low profile company like Wilcox. I don't see any of their stuff flooding the market any time soon.

All HK needs is a American company to put a name on their firearms so they can start selling it in the US. Made in the US or Assembled....whatever...
I'm sure they didn't want to pay some huge *start-up* costs (under the table) to a major manufacturer.
Wilcox problably was an easy (cheap) buy to get around the foreign import restrictions.
