Review: Marlin 336C - Is it worth buying in 2019?

I bought a 2018 Marlin 336C in .35 Remington and it went back for warranty twice. First issue it would not chamber Remington core-lokt 200g rounds. It would not go far enough into the chamber and I couldn't close the lever. I sent it to the warranty Depot in Quebec and the had to machine out the chamber so I could fully close the bolt.

After getting it back I took it to the range and while sighting it in with the open sights I noticed the front sight ramp was mounted to the barrel off center. It was cocked to the right side over a bit. When I called and told the warranty shop in Quebec (the name escapes me, starts with a "g")? They said they developed a front sight ramp that had to be redrilled and it would take into account this defect... LOL

I moved on from this abomanation and bought a brand new Tikka T3X Battue in .308 win and I couldn't be happier!!! I am pretty much done with any new Remington product, there are soooo many better options for the money.

I have looked at and held MANY new Marlin 336 in the past 6-8 years and it's 50/50 on what you get.

Did you buy the rifle from your local gun shop or from an on-line mail order outfit? The only reason I ask is because it's been my experience that on-line dealers have no qualms about using the on-line sales to get rid of clunkers in their inventory knowing that warranty work will need to be carried out by OEM authorized repair depots. The dealer ships the rifle and effectively "wash their hands" of it.
I've never had any issue with Marlin products, even the "new" models.

No sane CGN site sponsor would dare sell a know clunker to a CGN member. They'd never hear the end of it!

I got a big loop 30-30 laminate Carbine from a Cabellas sale few years ago, it was all good with the exception of one stripped forend cap screw, one call to Gravells and they sent me a few spares.
Shoots very well, decent trigger, fun little gun but heavy for what it is.
