What is the lightest you go ? 300WM extended range bullet.

Buy some Alliant, they always give good accuracy and speed. Lots of wasted efforts at the range from you lately, must be frustrating

Not to throw doubt at your success with the RL powders but I highly doubt it will take what the 212's are doing and turn them into shooters, if I can't get a hint of accuracy out of the powders I have on hand I don't think another powder will have that much more effect of these projectiles, if the 165's shoot then we know the gun(s) just have a narrow array of projectiles that it likes.

And honestly, I don't mind putting in the test time, but yes, it would just be nice to see things come together , sometimes they do magically.

Yes, elk at distance.

For that use, you should take a looong look at the ballistics of the 200 grain bullets. Hunting is not target shooting, and the heavier bullets may have a bit more drop at long ranges, but only a bit, and they can deliver energy levels and predictable performance that is more important to hunting uses than is an inch or two of trajectory. You can always just hold a little higher or dial a couple more clicks, but you can't add any "power" to a long range hunting bullet. For elk, I would think "how heavy can I go and still have a good trajectory", not " how light can I go and still hope for good terminal performance".

Tried to make them work with two rifles already. :)

I haven't read the entire thread so don't know if I'm agreeing with most or going against the grain...but hear is my experience with a .300 wm over 15 or 20 yrs use.

First of all, what do you mean by "extended range"...I used mine on a truckload of game mostly from 50 yrds out to 400 but on occasion use it out to 8-900 yrds on deer or the occasional yote...(so If your going to shoot further than that just dis-regard this post)...and the only slug I ever used in the gun was 150 gr spire point run-of-the-mill red box-the-cheapest I could buy, Hornadys.

The rifle was a Browning BBR that I had honed the factory trigger down to about a 1# pull with not even a whisker of trigger slack
