Hey, looking to buy a rcbs pro melt, I've looked everywhere, cant seem to find them, any of you know where I can buy one? Thanks!!

I'm torn between the rcbs and the lee 20lb, I've been researching them and hearing the horror stories of the lee dripping, I've heard great news about the rcbs but its 5 times the price! Ever experience the dripping issue?? Thanks!

i oen two lee pot, both with PID on it and they work realy great!!
Yess i had drip issue when a buy them but, i diseasemble them and ran the pin in the spout with a drill and little valve counpound. they both work great now !!
my 2 pot and the pid wotrh no more than one rcbs melter but ,with too, i nerver run out f lead, so i can cast and stay in the "zone"
Pretty fast to cast 40-60# of pill's hahahha!
 
Was looking for the RCBS but did not find it anywhere. I purchased a Lyman 25 on Amazon and ..I am very happy with it. Work great. My first choice was the RCBS but it seem there is none around except sometime the older model.
 
You guys make good points, just ordered the lee 20lb, I'll eventually get the rcbs when someone stocks them at a good price, thanks
 
To check the Lee before you melt lead, just fill with water first. Probably won't leak, but even if it does, it's an easy fix.
 
Yup, the LEE drips. Drips are a function of the server screw that controls the rate of flow, but its not really a problem.

"Tuning" the flow rate with the adjustment screw rod alleviates the drip, but its not a big issue. Put/add only clean ingots in the LEE pot with sawdust on the top gives users a clean reliable source of molten lead for suitable molds.

Like I said, don't discount the LEE 20 pound pot. C$102.00 before taxes at my friends @ Higginsons Powderss.
 
My "dream" pot was always an RCBS Pro Melt. I had the opportunity last year to buy a used, near new pot with all the original stuff in the original box for a very reasonable price.
When it arrived, i set it up with my PID set at 440 degrees Celcius and the pot was unable to reach that temperature. I took the PID out and ran it with a thermometer and it struggled to get oveer 700 deg. F.
I have 3 Lee 20 pounders that have no problem maintaining 440 C. The Pro Melt is on the shelf.

I bought a Mag25, the one with a built in PID.... it changed the way I cast.... one of the best purchases I’ve ever made!
 
I used my good ole RCBS Promelt last night to pour some jig heads. Boy oh boy this machine never let me down. Is an old machine but who cares. Does what was suppose to do.

A PID is a great thing to have for casting, powder coating, lube heater, brewing..... All sorts of things.
I'm not sure what options there are for buying one but there are directions and plans all-over the net to make one for around $50.
Still cheaper to do that with the Lee pot than buy the Lyman and then you can use the PID for other things too.

I’ve built several PIDs, I’ve even used them with a Lee 10# pot. And it was “good”.... they don’t hold a candle to the Mag25. The extra 15 pounds of capacity cannot be over stated.....
 
I'm running a Lee 10lb and have to agree the extra capacity would be great to have. I do a lot of BPCR with several bullets 500gr or more and the pots always empty about the time you get into a good rhythm.
I'll probably try the pot over pot idea one day.
