Wow, really didnt expect you guys to have access to that many different types of AR15s! Really cool!

I'm a huge fan of the Norc rifles personally. Back 4 years ago you could them off the EE for under 400 shipped for some!

I literally tried to break one. They are ugly, absolute beasts of a rifle. All their wonky quirks aside. In Stock config they can and will go the distance and take an ungodly amount of abuse.
But yeah up here we can get any and all ar15 they're just all restricted.
We can also have under 16" barrels with no special provisions etc I believe that was a sticky bone of contention at some point down in the USA was it not?

The Norinco Rifles are really unique and distinct look to them. They really do stick out in a crowd of M16s. I honestly have to say the Norinco "Revolver" grip is EASILY the most comfortable grip I've ever had on an AR15. Really want alot more of em, let alot of my friends try them too and many also fell in love.

To address you about rifles under 16 inch barrels. Here in the US we have whats called the National Firearms act of 1934, this effectively made people pay for a $200 tax stamp for Rifles with a barrel shorter the 16", shotguns with barrels under 18", Putting a stock on a pistol (There are actually quite alot of exemptions to this rule) and Sound Suppressors. Keep in mind, in 1934 $200 was a HUGE amount of money, My Grandfathers parents made that much money in a year. So you have to pay the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives $200 bucks, wait Six months to a year+ and get your tax stamp. This allows the owner of said tax stamp to do one of the things listed above. Its kind of a head ache, and there are tons of work arounds now, Pistol braces and things of this nature. This is of course if the state you live in hasnt BANNED NFA items out right. Which mean unless you are connected you have 0% chance of ever getting an NFA item legally.

The brightest part of our mess of firearms law is the pump shotgun, you can buy an 8 1/2 inch 870, put an AR collapsible stock on it, and still make the 26 inch over all length for non-restricted. Throw it in the truck and be perfectly legal.

Whats the deal with your Magazine laws? You cant have a rifle mag with more then 5 rounds, or a pistol mag with more then ten...but they go in the same exact gun???

Yup.

Specifically:

Magazines designed for use in a semi-automatic, centerfire "long-arm" cannot exceed more than 5 cartridges of the cartridge the magazine was designed to hold.

Magazines designed for use in a semi-automatic, centerfire handgun cannot exceed more than 10 cartridges of the cartridge the magazine was designed to hold.

Magazines designed for use in manual action firearms (except some quirky cases) have no maximum limit.

So wait, You can have a five round, 10 round and 30 round mag all of the STANAG pattern...but they are all different classification of mags? Whats stopping people from buying a 30 round USGI STANAG for their Mossberg MVP and using it in their Norinco M311s?

The STANAG pattern mags were never originally manufactured or designed for a bolt action rifle. You could argue that they were designed and manufactured for a pistol (The RRA LAR pistol), which is why we have 10 round capacity STANAG mags. No legal 30 round STANAG pattern mags are owned by average RPAL holders in Canada without being pinned to 5 or 10 (Dealers and stuff can have them).

But nothing is stopping people from buying "pistol" (lol) magazines and running them in their rifles, which is why EVERYONE does. Then there's the whole .50 Beowulf/.458 SOCOM thing. They use the same feed lips and followers as .223 mags, and held 5 rounds of .50\.458, which works out to about 15 rounds of .223. That was good for a while until the RCMP classified them as "dual use" magazines, and mandated that they must be imported and sold pinned to 5 rounds of .223. ####ing party poopers.

So its basically the same as California magazine laws but with alot more pointless political wording. Can you guys owned Pre-Ban 30 rounders or have the always been banned? Here in the US, states with "Assault Weapon" bans usually have a Grandfathering clause allowing people to own Standard cap & High cap mags as long as they were owned before the ban was put into law. How ever [At least in California] its basically a slap in the face. You can own the mags, but you better pray an Anti-Gun Cop doesnt catch you using them. Doesnt stop people from going to Nevada, Oregon & Arizona to get anything they want or just pop the pins out of pinned magazines.

The law applies evenly to all magazines (again, with some quirky exceptions), they must meet capacity regulations. Period. There are no legal semi-automatic centerfire magazines that exceed 5 or 10 rounds, unless they're owned by dealers or movie prop companies, but even then they just have a special exemption to possess those devices.

So something just occurred to me...do the Chinese ARs come in with Norinco marked mags? I collect some types of AR mags and was wondering if there were Norinco floor plates for the 20 round style mags

Mine came with 2 generic, 30 round mags pinned to 5 rounds. They were not labelled as Chicom, Norinco or anything. Pretty nondescript. They were functionable but low quality mags.

Yeah, Norinco doesn't really put any type of marking on their mags. No matter what they were made for.
If you were looking for an AR mag that is distinctly Norinco, they did send us a version of the 30 rounder early on that had a stupid 1/4" x 2" slot cut across the side of the mag to help limit it to 5 rounds.
Norc AR mags, not so great. Norc m14 mags, surprisingly good.
