If i was going elk hunting id like to think id carry either my 458wm shooting 400gr ppsn woodlieghs or my double rifle in 4570 shooting 405gr rem spfn and 405 gr silver alloy lazer cast flat nose at 1600fps and 1550fps respectfully

The top rig was built for elk. BAT short action /24” 12 twist KSA barrel chambered to 30-284 / Jewell trigger / KSA bottom metal / HS Precision magazine / Wildcat stock / 7.6 lbs.
This is a “switch barrel” rig for which every barrel / stock pictured are mated to the action. Chambers in addition to the 30-284 include 6 Dasher, 30BR, 6.5 X 47L, and 308 Win.
I painted all barrels with EnduraCoat epoxy.

I’m going for the first time since 2004. Taking my drilling in 7x65R. I think it’s quite capable out to 300yds. I just have to make that first shot count.

Ruger Alaskan in 375 Ruger topped with a Leupold VX-3i 2.5-8x36 shooting either 270gr TSX or 270gr Interlocks. This will also be my white tail, black bear, and moose rifle.

9x57 with 250gr Hawk bullets.
It’s a 1905 Mannlicher Schoenauer. Barrel markings state 8,6x56 1/2 mm but with some previous speculation (deduction from other markings and the brass reinforced grip and help from the MS association) it seems it spent some time in Germany to get proofed and likely in Africa with a German connection. I recently cast the chamber and confirmed it’s a 9x57 and not 9x56 MS
Good luck to everyone!

I was looking forward to taking my newly built Remington 700 Mountain Rifle in 6.5 Rem Mag for elk this year. But plans have changed. I used that tag on public land backpack bull I arrowed on the weekend.:dancingbanana:
