I like it so much that I had to post a pic and details to share. Marlin 1895 Trapper in 45-70 with 16.5" bbl, I swapped out the forend for the Mid West Industries, removed the sights, installed an EGW pic rail and an Aimpoint Micro H-1 4MOA, smoothened all the internals, hollow paracord wrap on the lever, and Devcon textured the grip and a coat of flat black Tremclad, installed a hammer spur and the O-ring cross bolt safety delete. I decided to go this route as we hunt some pretty thick bush at our camp in Ontario. I dog for moose at our camp and shots will range from in your face to the 80 plus range. This will mainly be used for dogging for moose or a rare bear over bait hunt and a backup rifle for deer. I zeroed it a tad high at 50 with Lev 2 class 405gr RCBS HC GC loads and will easily get into the kill zone at 100+ if need be. Makes for a nice carrying package at 35" OAL. Hopefully she gets a chance to drop her hammer on something this year.

Thanks Shell Shucker. I'm still on the fence about back up irons as am liking the smooth look. The Lev 2 load is like a lightning bolt on game and usually results in a bang flop. Last moose that was shot with it came out on a dead out run and took one round through both shoulder blades at about 50yds. He stopped like he ran into a concrete wall.

Now that's a paradox, very modern rendition of a classic lever rifle with Cast Bullets.

Good Luck with your hunt.

Have a great hunting season

I have used a Micro H-1 on a few Browning BLRs over the past several years and support your notion that it is pretty much the best close cover sighting system going. Very lightweight, extremely quick target acquisition, and tough as nails. Yes, it has a battery - but it has something like a 20 000 hour run time. I replace mine as a matter of habit every couple years and have never had an issue.

Good luck with the moose hunt. I have set up a BLR 358 with my Aimpoint hurling 225 grain pills to hopefully fill my bull tag here in Eastern Ontario.

Rifleman338 way to go! Built for purpose and looks very cool...maybe you'll get a few odd looks this year, that is until you drop something with that bad a$$ rifle

I really like its functionality. I'm with Shell Shucker on the backup sights. An XS Rail w/ integrated ghost ring + front post would look really slick.
