Finally, the big game season in Ontario has begun!
I arrived at 4:00 Saturday Morning, just as the lights went out on the generator.
Dumbdawg was the only one awake enough to start it, so I turned the headlights of the Jeep on it.
We talked for half an hour, amidst loud snoring from Fogducker in the next room. :p

When the boys arrived they had to lift the chain over the post on the gate to get in.
(To get to Fogduckers, one must cross a bit of private land owned by a neighbour)
Someone had cut the chain and changed the lock.

Finally foggy got up, giving me a big WTF did you come from look. And we set about the days hunt. (After they were fed)

The morning hunt was uneventful, at least until we went in for lunch.
We had finished eating, when the bear, DROVE up the driveway!
Yes folks, and OPP had come in all the way, scraping hell out of the bottom of his cruiser, just to ask what we were doing there.
Apparently, the neighbour had noticed the chain lifted over the gate post, and called the cops. (a good thing)
Anyway, some years back, there had been a small grow opp found on the property, and the neighbour told the young officer that, so, he was visibly nervous, when the three of us descended upon his cruiser.
He asked that Newhunter hand over his belt knife while he talked to us. (The rest of us were not wearing ours.)
A few questions, names and addy's later, he handed back the knife, and was on his way, bumping and grinding down the lane.
We went out to the neighbour right away, had a visit, and thanked him for being observant. (Break ins are frequent) and got a key. ( I'm getting some copies today)
Back to hunting. Bear sign was everywhere, fresh tuned rocks, ripped stumps, broken apple trees, but so far, no (four legged) bears.
There's always Monday!

Wow, sounds like you guys had quite the first day @ Dumbdawgs and Fogduckers camp. Thats not the kinda bear I want them bringing back here, that's for sure! Michelle has the camera with her in Vancouver! So, this should mean.. they get a bear or two this year!

Thanks for the update JYC ( I haven't heard from them )

I dunno, Michelle might have gone for the cop.
Young, blond, thin,
Hmmm
Maybe it's a good thing Mommabear wasn't there :p

You are probably right!

Michelle , however, is having a fantastic time in Vancouver, my worries are over ( for now) seems this "fella" has stole her heart. I may be losing my baby

Well, the boys had a woman in camp while I was away Sunday!

No shots fired, no bears seen (four legged) lots of squirrels, and hummingbirds about.

Got Fogducker's electric Chevy all charged up, and they're off.

Beautiful day, it's a shame they have to waste it on the road.

WHAT  A hunting camp with no camera? Thats just...well...keep us poor saps that have to work this weekend updated anyway ;) :)
i had my camera there, but was saving it till some meat was on the pole,
was not a bring home some meat hunting trip, but time spent with friends and family,it was a great trip:)

Even though no meat has been brought home yet,you guys probably had an awesome time hunting up there together.Good luck hunting this fall.:)

Yes, it was a lot of fun, and more than that, it gets the wheels turning for moose and deer season.
Sitting there in the stand, that's what I was thinking about, plans for hunts, improvements.
That, and watching a humming bird light on a branch about three feet away.
Bats flying around eating bugs in the early morning.
Saw a fox, a coyote, and a deer, just driving in to camp this morning.
And I did get some game, I drove over a mouse on the way in :D
We got some firewood moved, got the old trailer fixed up and on the road, and even got Fogduckers electric Chevy moving... complete with tail lights :D

Did it get all the way home on one charge? :p

I would have told him to do something I can't say here.
