First pistol - Girsan MC28 on sale at Tenda!

I've put about 200 rounds through mine now. Seems ok and my mags drop alright. Might be a slight issue on yours. The sights seem to be off though. It is shooting low and left and I tried a cheapo laser bore sight thing I have and the laser was also low and left of the aim point. Will have to figure out how to adjust that.

The magazine catch doesn’t disengage completely without really pushing the mag release button hard. Tried to see if there’s a shaving of polymer material caught somewhere in the mechanism as it’s just a fraction of a mm that catches the mag.

Edit: my sights are bang on. After getting used to the lighter firearm (compared to my Shadow 2) it was pretty nice to shoot.

Before adjusting the sights, see if you're flinching. Mix up live ammo and dummy ammo in the same mag. When shooting, naturally the live rounds will go "bang", and the dummies will go "click". You want the front sight post to not move AT ALL, when you pull the trigger on a dummy. No movement. None. Zip. Nada. lol!

If the front sight post moves when you pull the trigger on a dummy, leave the sights alone. Time to work on technique.

Fairly certain I'm not flinching. I've fired enough handguns of various types over the years that I doubt that's an issue. But I can believe my grip is off and causing rounds to go consistently ot 7:00 or 8:00 o'clock. I'll work on that and try with a closer target to see what's happening. I was trying at 10 to 20 yards. Maybe I'll start with a 5 yard target and see what's what.

They are decent pistols for the price point.....clones of the S&W M&P.

I owned one a while back and it functioned flawlessly and would run anything right out of the box.

As mentioned, the pistol is slick in your hands so grip tape or dimpling will help quite a bit.

Have fun!

A closer target is a great idea, (make it close enough and choose an appropriate aiming point to keep your point of aim as precise as possible), but please don't skip the ball and dummy drill because of your confidence. Try it and prove to yourself that you don't have any issues with anticipating recoil, and driving the gun down.

Consider this: In slow fire, if you focus on the pure basics of a steady sight picture as the trigger breaks, your grip means squat. Slavex on here has done the demo of holding the gun upside down and has used the pinky on his weak hand to pull the trigger. He can shoot better groups using that method that I suspect many people on this forum can, when using the "proper" technique. The reason is that he knows to hold the gun steady, (much easier with a conventional 2-handed grip), and ease that trigger back without moving the sights.

So you are either screwing up the muzzle direction when the trigger breaks and not noticing the movement, or are doing everything perfectly and need to adjust the sights. :)

I'm going to the range Thursday evening so will try changing my grip and being really diligent about a smooth trigger pull and see what happens. I've watched a bunch of Youtube videos to get some idea of what i may be doing wrong. :)

Congrats! Ever though of buying a 22LR handgun for starters before spending the big bucks on 9mm ammo

I actually did too :) I picked up a Beretta 92FS .22. Grabbed the Girsan becasue it was $280 which at that price is a no brainer. So will spread my ammo dollars between them. I also got a great deal on some 9mm at International Shooting Supplies. They had 1000 round cases for $229.
