Derya mk12 barrel extension

So I was looking into barrel extensions for my MK12 and read somewhere that you can use the UTAS UTS-15 7.5 inch barrel extension on the MK12. Can anybody confirm this?

I can't confirm but am curious as to why you would want a longer barrel? The only thing I could come up with was turkeys?
I have a MK12 but am fairly new to them so always looking for input on them.

I shot my turkey this spring with my Derya MK12, no barrel extension required IMHO... Used the factory full tube to, but have since sourced a turkey choke tube for next year...

Awesome success there Jay. I hope to try turkey hunting one day. Think I would use my Mk12.

I tell people to get out and try hunting with the non traditional black rifles and shotguns. Not to go against the grain or PO the fudds. Rather to enjoy the experience while you can and have that to reflect back on later in life when we likely will not be able to do that with these fine guns.

I know I still remember the few times in the 80's I put down the shotgun or hunting rifle to try some varmint hunting with my Colt AR15 A2. I did it only a few times but I did it just because I could and I'm glad I did because we can't do it now. Regardless what Ottawa ever does, they can't take those memories from me.

Cheers
Moe

Honestly I’ve just always had 26-28 inch barrelled shotguns and intend to hunt ducks/geese/turkey maybe deer with it so I figured a longer barrel was better. I’m a new owner as well.

Nice looking turkey Jay!

I used to hunt ducks with a Browning BPS Upland model with a 22" barrel. Dropped ducks fine, so it's not all about barrel length... I think the Derya MK12 would be an AWESOME shotgun for deer in the thick stuff. Not sure I would shoot slugs beyond 75m because it's just a smooth bore.

Do you mean feet? I didn't even think you could hit that far with a rifled barrel!

I hadn't thought about them as a waterfowl gun, then it makes sense. I run mine for 3 gun so the shorter barrel makes the most sense for that application.

I have been shooting grouping at 75 meters with hollow point rifled slug 2 3/4 all on paper no problem with the standard barrel.

Works like a charm with a nice bipod and red dot

I bought my MK12 at the end of the summer to be my new 'everything' semi-auto shotgun. I bought the 6 inch Derya barrel extension (and an extra 2rd mag) specifically for waterfowl, I need all the help I can get. By the time the gun arrived I only had time to zero it for slugs with the standard barrel and test fire various types of shot. Then straight into hunting season.

So far the MK12 has worked great for grouse, deer and duck. I've only used the extension for duck. But I haven't been able to compare the shot patterns between the standard barrel and with the extension attached. That will have to be a winter project.

Overall, I am super impressed with the MK12 as I hunting gun. I've received some curious looks from people but once I explain a bit about the gun and successfully harvest with it people look at it differently.

I can report back on shot pattern comparisons between standard barrel and with extension attached in a bit, once the hunting season has ended....
