Oh for sure. They didn't last long as subjects of the Queen. Them lads got balls, something that we've never seen the likes of! Then or ever.
You carry a gun to be ready to counter a deadly threat to you (or anybody else if you are a LEO).
You need a gun at the same time light enough to carry comfortably and packing enough force to stop the assailant to continue to be a threat.
Stopping power rules.
Brutally said, the threat has to be stopped as fast as possible and with the least number of shots in order not to be a threat anymore.
I put aside all videos of LEO sending a full 19, 9mm mag into the opponent.
I put aside all scenarios of you intervening on a scene as a good samaritan, that working well only in a discussion around a cup of coffee but becoming hell in the aftermath for you if you intervene in a midst of an exchange of gun shots.
I consider only CC as a mean to protect you and your loved ones only.
That said, all major calibers in the pistol of your choice meeting the criterias of the second line above.
If you believe in CC, that means at all times, hence the judicious choice of the combo.

Anyone but Trudeau should be the slogan of this campaign. Enough vote splitting on the left should result in a strong CPC minority.

Agreed! I’ve told all my non-gun owning friends and family that if they can’t vote CPC, to vote Green or NDP. We have to split that left vote!

Well again, not to belabour the point, but if the Green are likely to win the seat, don't vote NDP. If the NDP are tied with the liberal candidate, don't vote green.
Vote splitting is largely a myth because percentage of the popular vote doesn't mean squat on a riding by riding basis.
Vote and campaign for the person mostly likely to defeat the liberals, whoever that might be.
All politicians are populist snake oil salesman so lets not get too uppity about the colour of their ties. At the end of the day we need to defeat this anti gun nonsense. and if we could genuinely convince every political party that it pays to be pro gun, then every party would get pro gun in a hurry.
Just look at the dairy farmers if you want proof of that strategy working.
