Hunter orange

When I moved here from Ont. in 1985, I was very surprised at the amount of hunters here in NB. Seemed to me EVERYBODY hunted, and I later heard or read the NB has the highest per capita hunters in Canada. No one has a problem wearing orange here.

.

I just have a problem with having to wear it on my archery hunt next month....

While I agree blaze increases the visibility as mentioned just not sold it is all for safety reasons alone. I had a former member of our party shoot at an animal in direct line with me and he swears he never saw the blaze orange pumpkin behind that deer...emotion can cloud judgements and that is where accidents happen most often. Be it forgetting to unload, unsafe muzzle handling, not knowing your target and beyond, etc it is often the golden rules of firearm safety that are forgotten and could have prevented such an occurance. Have a safe and good hunting season.

By your own words "not knowing your target and beyond"
How can you know whats beyond if a hunter has blended in with the suroundings perfectly!

Personally, I hate orange, I hated when the law was brought in, & as in the seat belt law, I hate when such safty is ramed down your throat!
But I also acknowledge that as far as I am concerned it is a good measure & would not feel confortable wandering afield with-out it

...... in regards to wearing orange, silly. :)

.

That's the difference. If you stay perfectly still I truly believe orange has no bearing on your success. But in full camo I believe you could stalk easier and while stand hunting it would allow you those itty bitty movements that you dare not make while wearing orange.

Especially when you have to draw your bow when a deer is standing 20 yds away.

In NS during archery season, orange only has to be worn on the ground, in the tree you are ok in camo.

It makes no diffrence to me whether someone wants to where it or not. what pisses me off is when your forved to wear it by some pencil pusher who's probably never even left the city before.

as far as im concerned it's your choice. I feel the same way about seatbelts, motorcycle helmets etc. when it comes to your own personal safety it should be your own choice not some suit in Vancouver or Ottawa or Toronto or wherever deciding whats best for you.

personally I choose not to wear orange I think it's stupid, however I dont care if someone else wants to wear some or not. worry about yourself and stop trying to impose what you think on everyone else, and we'd be alot better off.

Kyle.

the only reason ontario established blaze orange requirements is that the politicians could laugh at the retards wearing the orange clothes.... bed enough your mother has to dress you, now your letting some libtard tell you how to dress.

thank god for sensible laws in western canada....

You know what..

It might look like ####, but it is a hell of a lot safer then not wearing any at all. I will look like a retard and wear my blaze orange proudly thanks ;)

You may look like a retard, but you may or may not actually be any safer. BC hunters dont wear blaze unless they want to, and there are virtually zero accidental shootings.

So how can someone determine that orange is safer if there isn't any accidents int he first place?:p

But Gatehouse.

Our woods here are A LOT thicker then your woods in BC. Believe me. Have you ever hunted in Ontario? More so Northeastern Ontario?

When it comes to THICK bush, people out there grouse hunting, bear hunting, moose hunting, rabbit, fox, wolf, yote etc etc etc.. I want to stand out like a sore thumb.

Either way, the game only see blaze orange as a little lighter then the color of grass.

It just makes sense to be safe in my opinion.

If you hunted here in the thick, there is no friggin way your going to see another hunter 100m ahead or to the side of you. But with blaze orange you most likely would.

Think about it Gatehouse. And I stress again, if you have never been here or hunted our woods. Then you do not know what I am talking about.

Bottom line. It makes sense to wear it here, and it is the law.

Blaze orange is just another Libretard idea.
The person who pulls the trigger is responsible where the bullet goes.

You want to be safe on the road? Paint your car blaze orange!
Even better, make it a law to paint all vehicles blaze orange and there will be no accidents!

Well, in fairness we DO have visibility laws to make cars easily visible at night or in poor light. In fact, i believe all new ones have to have daytime running lights because it helps.

But that's neither here nor there. I think it should be up to the individual to do his research and then make the right choice for his area. They can RECOMMEND It and provide education, but i think it should be a choice.

Ya.

That is a pretty dumb statement bud.

You want to be safe on the road? don't drink and drive.

What the hell does painting your car orange have to do with this topic? do car's go through thick bush?

To the people that mock blaze orange:jerkit:

I know "I am" a safe hunter, but I don't know about the other guy. I would like that other guy to be able to see me "VERY WELL" in the woods and not mistake me for something else. I don't think anything on this planet is blaze orange and has a beating heart.

I just don't understand why some of you people are all against saftey. I mean, it is not ruining our odds at hunting, game see it as the color of grass.

I guess I have a better appreciation for my life and the saftey of others then some of you BC folk so it seems

Ah well, I don't get it... Ya know, we have so many flippin laws here in Ontario, and you BC guy's whine over the smallest ####.
