I had the XCR-M for a year and have just finished building a light weight Stag 10. For that budget (around $2800) I would go with the Stag, because parts are plentiful and you can build it however you like. Mine ended up being 7.1 lb dry with lots of titanium parts and a fluted medium-heavy barrel. Balances well, right in the middle of the magazine well. The XCR-M was front heavy and the factory FAST stock was not the most solid. The heavy barrel version was 9.25 lb dry.
A custome built Stag with proper components should get you MOA or better.
I do like the side charging setup and the monolithic rail on the XCR-M though. The bolt catch button next to the trigger guard is also very nice.
