Take a looky here....

Continuation of my Vanguard woes.

Now, IMO this bottom metal at the front screw is tilted , it definitely doesn't sit flush in the stock.

Is this a Vanguard thing or just a Kelly with a Vanguard thing? It's a new rifle I will be bedding soon and previously tried to get to shoot , nobody else has had their hands on it.

Definitely wouldn't lend itself to a stress free front screw.

I'm not even going to attempt to straiten it if is bent , I think I would just bed the bottom of the stock to take the play and spring out of the bugger.

What do the experts say?

likely a kelly thing. Check if the screw is just bearing on the back portion of the holes mating surface, chewing it up. Also, look for a helical twist to it. If you have a vice you can easily 'straighten' them. How does it look in the stock?

It looks piss poor in the stock actually, when the very front and very rear are seated I can spring it down when I push on it.

I will return with a photo, give me a few, it's out in the shop.

If it wasn't for bad luck!!

Photos as requested...

Pushed in as far as it goes , sits as this when screws installed , I did try go a bit more snug than recommended torque but it did force it down slightly.

As it was before I just fiddled with it...

As it is with screw installed...

Turn in and out a couple times , rubbing on front of bottom metal , thats with action forced all the way back...

As it is going in/out, holding action in stock with my hand as tight as possible...

red sharpie to double check interference...

It's a shewter, nawt a fruck'in piano.
Kelly, oww duzz it shewt?

Sir, I need all the help I can get , and this unit is not helping me.

It didn't like heavy boat tail bullets , that's for damn sure.

Got another bedding kit enroute as well as some light flat based bullets to try.

I'm not asking for F-class results but I'd like to be able to hit a pail at a reasonable distance.

I'll get it yet.

Same problem as last time. You can see its not bearing fully. easy fix, hammer, vice, bottle of vodka...

It is caused by tightening the screw up when the magazine box is out of place and holding the bottom metal up. It can be semi-risky to straighten it but you can probably get away with it. I would straighten it.

I would hit it with a medium weight hammer, if that didn't work I would get a larger hammer. But seriously you can bend it straight, a vise is your friend.

Not to deny anything on my part but I am guessing this came from factory this way as I was diligent with all assembly and disassembly.

Straighten it and then bed it to the stock by just laying it in there and letting the epoxy harden... no screws, no hard pressure...
