You may never have heard of Ted Morton, but I voted for him to replace Ralph as the conservative leader in Alberta. Ted was too right wing for many Albertans, so he didn't win the leadership. But, he ended up as Minister of Natural Resources. In his first year in office, he has opened up rifle hunting of big game to hunters as young as 12 (with parent's supervision/consent). And, he's opened up Sunday hunting in a bunch of WMU's that were historically closed to Sunday hunting.
Having a hunter-friendly Minister of Natural Resources is a dream come true. He credits hunters with being the most environmentally conscious group in the province.
If I wasn't thrilled enough that the pendulum is finally swinging the other way, I'm sure pumped at learning that our grouse covert is in one of the new areas that's open on Sundays.
