Im looking to find .35 caliber 225gr Nosler Partition SEMI-spitzer
bullets for my .358 BLR. I know Nosler stop making the Semi-spitzer for the .35cal (not sure when ) and they only make the spitzer bullet which does not shoot well through my .358 BLR at all . If anyone has or knows of a place that still carries the Nosler Partition Semi Spitzer for a .35cal in 225gr please let me know.

If someone can suggest an alternate bullet to use that is similar to the Nosler Partition Semi Spitzer I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Paul

Hi Paul,

I am doing some experimenting with my BLR in .358 and am getting some good results with 225 Sierras if that is the weight you are looking to use and if wanting more penetration the 250 Speers have been assume. Great penetration and accuracy and they really thump them.

I used to run into yourself and your dad at the Oshawa club, are you still a member there ?

I know Nosler stop making the Semi-spitzer for the .35cal (not sure when
I also shoot a BLR/358Win. Great little gun. Hope you get yours shooting to your liking.

I've had my ear to the rail for a long time regarding 35cal stuff and I'm only aware of one flavour of 225 Nosler partitions in that calibre ever being made - the spitzer - product #44800.
Perhaps you want to try Nosler's Ballistic Tip 225 which is also called a spitzer but with a pronounced boat tail (now discontinued but may still be on some gun shop shelves) - or the newer better bonded version of the BTip called the 225 Accubond.

See em all here on my bullets page - http://35cal.com/bullets.html

My Dad is still a member of Oshawa Gun Club ... unfortunetly I'm not. Thanks for the information and link ... we'll look into it.

We really love the .358 BLR.... loved it so much we had to get a second one! LOL ;)

What are you guys using for reloads (powder, bullet, etc.)?

Thanks!

Paul

I have used the 225G Sierra's in my BLR358 on two deer with poor results. Both deer were retrieved but had to shoot them both twice and never had a pass thru, found bits and pieces of the bullet scattered throughout the deer. I have decided not to use them on big game anymore. This year I am planning to use 200G Rem Corloks for deer and 225 Partitions for moose.

Speer's Grand Slam 250gr has a protected point, almost a semi spitzer if it's not to heavy for you.

I would prefer to use a 225gr bullet but if I have no choice I'd go with a 250gr bullet. The gain is mainly used for Moose and Bear BUT I do bring the .358BLR for deer if I have to go in the bush or posting in my tree stand.

I've used the Speer bullets and they grouped just as well as my Nosler SemiSpitzer did ... might just have to use those!

Speer offers a few options...

Trophy Bonded Bear Claw 225gr SP

Grand Slam 250gr SP

Hot-Cor 180gr Flat Nose/cann
Hot-Cor 220gr Flat Nose/cann
Hot-Cor 250gr Spitzer SP

Anyone use the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw 225gr SP? or the Hot-Cor 220gr Flat Nose/cann?

What is the overall length of your brass and bullet together?

Paul
