16x16x9.3x72 Drilling

The only times I see drillings or others with more barrels, it's on guns made for the European style of hunting, where pretty much anything that goes by the stand might get taken.
IIRC the term for guns with even more barrels is "vierling". There was a decent article in one of the old "Guns" annuals that showed a pile of the variants, with up to 7 barrels of assorted calibers all cobbled together.
You don't find a pile of them on this side of the waters.
Looks like a well made piece.
Does it shoot worth keeping?

I've not seen one exactly like it b/c all early drillings were "one-offs" made for the buyer way back when.
Suffice it to say, yours is likely only proofed for black powder loads and might only take 2,1/2" shells or smaller.
9.3x72 is a tough caliber to find this side of the pond...

Just to nit pick but vierling refers to 4 barrels after the german word vier for 4. The drillings get their name from drei meaning 3.
Nice looking gun; should be fun to shoot.

The articles referred to all the ones with more than three barrels by that, if I recall correctly.
Either just another case of bad info being the best the writer had, or just another case of my memory heading towards the antique classification itself.
