Or more generally I suppose, what is a good brand for grips? I'm looking at Hogue and Eagle Grips, the look identical to me other then one being quite a bit more expensive.

What do I need to know?

Cheers.

I'm not familiar with Eagle Grips, so I can't comment on their quality. I am familiar with Hogue grips and I have quite a few of them on various handguns (including Ruger SuperBlackhawk .44 RemMag.) I am very happy with their fit and finish and quality.

Well, to be fair the best brand would be the ones that feel the nicest to your hand. While not the nicest I think I'd stick with the stock grips until I get a chance to see what some of the aftermarket brands feel like when you run across them on other folks' guns.

Being a bit of a woodworker and having fairly large hands I actually made a set for my Super Blackhawk with fatter upper area around the "shoulder" and slightly thinner at the butt. With the stock grips I was beating up the front of my middle finger on the trigger guard. With the new grips I made that went away even with full .44Mag loads. If you're a bit of a wood worker yourself making your own is certainly an option. And then you get what you want.

my dad went with Hogue on his and he loves them.
nice and squishy soft grip made shooting his a lot more enjoyable for him and they are bigger then the stock ones so it feels like you can get a better grip on the pistol.

Alas I am not, but that is incredibly cool. Love to see a picture.

I do see them pop up here quite a bit on the forums, I've seen one set in the wild on a similar SA and definitely liked em. But as usual google led to more choices without that lovely personal experience piece that I can only find here :D

I'd be going faux pearl which I suspect would lack the squish, but thank you none the less :)

That’s a AVRI 52’ Made in 1996

I’ve checked with Brownells, they don’t seem to have any Birds Head Grip frames in stock!

Nice! I have an American Standard from 2012 through a Blue Deluxe Reissue Smokey Tweed. I've been in search of grips for my Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunter... honestly wish I would have gotten the plow handle version.
