Always been a savage fan and with all the reveiws I have seen on the stevens 200 I had to get a couple . I bought one in .223 Rem and one in 243 Win ;)

I worked up a few loads for them and went to the range and here is what I got for 3 shot groups at 100y :

With the 243

95 grain Nosler BT (hunting)
40gr of IMR 4831
Win LR Primer , 2.710 C.O.L

almost every load I shot out of this gun is under 1", but it looks like I will be trying tis load out a few more times

And the 223 Rem

25gr BLC-(2)
CCI B4 primer ,2.260 C.O.L

Both guns bone stock out of the box , 243 has a Bushnel trophy3-9 and the 223 has a bushnell trophy 6-18

For the price you can not go wrong:)
 
I have 2 laminated stocks on order at the moment , but one is held up . If and when they get here I will be bedding them and then we can really see what they can do . You mentioned in a post a while back that you bed the tang? I thought it needed to float ? I left it floating on my 16fss 300WSM when I beded it and it can shoot dime sized groups if I do my part :)
 
Nice shooting!! My old Stevens in a .223 out shot my Remington VSSF every single range outing, I think it out shot every other gun Ive ever owned minus the 788 in .243.
Nice to see a rifle made that pretty much every one can afford and shoot moa with ease.

BCboy, either way will work. I bed the tang because it's there and I like to support the full length of the action. If both action screw areas and recoil lug are fully supported, the action will be well bedded.

well no luck, WSS did not have a stevens in 22-250, an 11F--3 package in 22-250 but thas not what I was looking for.

they did have one ther in 223 that I took a really long hard look at, but..... Its not as ###y as a 22-250, yes I could get piles of once fired brass for the 223 but.... Its just not a ###y as a fire belching barrel burning 22-250 :D

Perhaps tommorrow I'll find one :D

get the 243 :) ,launch a 58gr bullet @3800FPS + ant the small varmits and then 95or100Gr bullet @3000FPS+ for the bigger ones;)
best of both worlds
 
The Remington 710 or 770 (or 9900 whatever they're calling that garbage heap these days) has nothing on the Stevens 200. And the Stevens is STILL cheaper.
The Remington 770 is $460 from SIR. It comes with a scope, but who cares?

You can get a Stevens 200 for $330 and that leaves $130 to buy a bushnell scope. That would do it for me. Nice shooting by the way!

Oh great , get me thinking of anouther caliber to buy :confused: ,Dam I just bought the RCBS Chargemaster combo. Now I Need to work some OT as I can see I need anouther new gun :eek:

what will the wife think?:D:rolleyes:
