Arrived in the mail today! Unfortunately it's going to have to stay in the safe for the next week (though I expect it's going to be plenty clean and well oiled by then), as I won't get a chance to hit the range until next weekend to try it out. Post war alloy frame, hoping to add an AC/CYQ model or two to keep it company as funds permit.

I've already said my goodbyes to any money I may have saved - there's a lot more on the shopping list.

Nice! The grandfather of the "wonder nines" and the Beretta 92...where did you get it?

Ordered from Tradeex (w ww.tradeexcanada.com). Great price, incredible service - Anthony was so quick to reply to e-mails it was scary. This one looks like it's probably ex-police: Perfect shiny bore, some wear on the high spots, most likely from holster carry.

tradeex is great to deal with ain't they;)

So, what's the difference between Post war P-38 and P1?

Physically, nothing. My understanding is the P-1 was Walther's designation for the pistol sold to the police/military, while P-38 was kept for export and civilian sales. If someone more knowledgable has more info or corrections, please feel free to chime in.

Is it a fun gun to shoot? I'm not looking for accuracy or anything, it's just nice to have a handgun to fire off a few mags when I'm on the range, and I've always liked the P38. Service from tradeex is good, eh?

Service from Tradex was awesome. A+, will be ordering some extra mags next.

Can't say how it shoots yet, but will let you know after this weekend when I get it out to the range. One thing that's going to be strange though: It ejects brass to the left. :runaway:
