Go to the Natural Resources Canada website, go to Mapping and find the gazetteer function. Type in the placename and select the answer you like. The display will give you a zoomable map of the area that you can navigate around, and save as a download. Then go buy the National Topographic System 1:50,000 scale map.
Alternatively, if BC is like Que and ON, their respective natural resources ministry will have an online mapping "portal" that gives you maps at larger scale than 1:50,000 and are probably more up to date than the feds'.
