What will you be shooting this season? Anybody buy anything new? Or do you have an old faithfull you'd like to share?

I will go back to my old Army and Navy 12 SXS.

Every year I think I want to sell then I can't let it go????

I sold off my old clunker Stoeger 12 OG that has started kicking me with both barrells every 50 shots or so. The old thing was too ugly to put any money into it, so I sold it to someone who hunts the saltmashes and just wants something that they dont have to worry about. I bought an XtremaII, which I'll be using for all of my hunting for this year. It is long, heavy, and slow to swing, but I shoot well with it so that'll do for now. I'm saving my pennies (lots of pennies) for a new (or just new to me) double, either a SxS or more likely an O/U. I'd really like something very light, like the Beretta Ultralight (5.75 pounds) or the Frachii Renaissance (aboout 6 lbs) with 26" barrels. Looks like it won't be until next season though by the time I can afford one, but I think that it will be worth the wait. I almost bought an old Laurona SxS for 300$ the other day just to tide me over, but I'm afraid that if I do that I'll never get around to buying the gun that I *really* want and will suit me for life! The local gunshot had a sweet price on Beretta Silver Pigeons, including one chambered up to 3.5". Although it was beautiful I found it a bit heavy. Besides, I couldn't afford it. I'm going to try to get to a bigger gunshot where I could handle a bunch of them to narrow down my search. We were out blueberry pickng this monring and the dog put up 5 hens and a whole bunch of juveniles, so I guess I know where I'm going tobe on opening morning...:D. Can't wait!!!!!!

I have 2 boxes of Gamebore 2.5" papers in #7 that I can't wait to smell after I fire them out of my Tobin SxS...at a rooster or two over my new German Wirehair would round out the perfect scenario...

That's hard to beat. Life is good.

Ha, ha ha - one gun to last you the rest of your life. That's a good one.;)

...if I only had a dollar for every time I said "This is the last gun on my wish list."

HAHA Straighshooter - I wondered if anyone would call my bluff (aka B.S.!) on that one... Ok ok, let me rephrase - "One friggin' expensive firearm that I will justify buying by telling myself that it is an investment for life and that I will never even need to LOOk at another shotgun if I can just buy myself this one, perfect gun!!!". Oh, wait a minute, except for the 28 gauge that I want for grouse. Oh yeah, and that little pump bear deterrant with the folding stock. Oh, and that one for (instert more transparent justification for "need" here). Oh well, what can you do, once an addict, always an addict. Like I always tell the wife when I get caught spending mortage payments on guns and other outdoor gear: "Hey, take it easy honey. I COULD be addicted to hookers! So you shouldn't complain about this one little purchase of a shotgun. After all, now that I have THIS one I'll never need to buy another..."

My CZ Bobwhite 16ga.....I have this somewhat uneasy feeling that fit is not appropriate with this specific shotgun although my other CZs 12/20/28 fits and points very well. Haven't had an opportunity to pattern the firearm yet.

Not sure about the CZ's but in my experience with 16's is they usually pattern very well. Better than most 12's. You should get her out to the range and put a few loads on paper. Knowing where your load is going is a good thing. ;)

New gun

I picked up a 20 gauge Beretta pigeon C with case hardened reciever and absolutly fantastic piece of lumber on the butt stock and real nice wood on the fore end. Gun fits well and I have some 3 inch Kent 20 gauge turkey loads that are going to be very effective on the roosters I see this season. FS

I'll be shooting the DU SKB 1900 auto I just bought on this site. Fired one round of skeet with it and scored a solid 20 with imp. choke. I'm heading up to the interior of B.C. for a grouse hunt next weekend.
Funny you guys mentioned paper shells as my duck hunting partner gave me a couple boxes of the old purple Imperial paper shells, one box #6 and # 4 mix, the other #7 1/2. Looking forward to using them!

Have you opportunity to pattern and hunt with the bobwhite 16ga? Do you like it or have you traded it off?

Took the dog out for her first pheasant hunt on Friday. What a great experience. She had a blast !!

We saw 5, and took 3 with my dad's older Spanish .410 SXS using #5 shot. I wanted to try the .410 for a few different reasons and it worked pretty well, but will most likely go back to the Rinco pump 12ga. for our next outing. I really liked the old sxs, but felt undergunned after about 30 yds with the .410

I'd love to buy a nice 20ga SXS...
