More REAL Colts

That's not an M4. Bring some LE6921's in. I'll take 2!

Actually the LE6921 isn't an "M4" either. The M4 is a 14.5" select fire (full auto) weapon system. The LE6921 (14.5") and the LE6920 (16.1") are Law Enforcement semi-auto weapons... neither of which is technically an "M4".

Good luck getting any LE6921's out of the US for civilian end users... not legaly anyway.

Well of course, only the select fire RO977 and RO979 carbines are true M4/M4A1's as per Mil-spec.

With Tavors and SIG's I just dont get how an AR can command more then 2000$...

The same way that some of the "transferrable" Class III machine guns in the US can sell for $25,000 to $75,000... supply and demand. When the demand for something far out paces the supply, the price is driven upwards.

If there were only5 Tavors imported to Canada and it became known that there weren't going to be anymore available here, you'd be amazed at what the price would quickly jump to. Those that wanted them would bid the price up... those that had them would sell when the price became high enough to attract their interest.

An item (any item) is only "worth" what someone out there is willing to pay for it. Is a baseball worth $500,000.00 ? To the guy who buys it it is... and of course to the guy who sells it to him! To everyone else it is not... which is why they didn't offer $500,001.00 for it.

Although about the M4 debate: There was a skirmish in court between Colt and Bushmaster a few years back, Colt being upset at Bushmaster for making reference to one of their models being an M4.

Court ruled out that since the term had become so common and was way out of patent refference, the term M4 can be used to designate any AR-15 type rifle that comes close to the original idea. It's become more of a general reference name.

Bottom line is, these babies are probably as close as what you'll find to a ''real'' M4.

Here is a picture of the lower markings on a 14½" barreled LE6921

I have yet to see one of these lower in civilian hands in Canada.

Not on Colt's website... they are very specific about what is listed as the M4 and the LE6921 isn't.

The LE6921 is listed with the LE6920 under Law Enforcement carbines...

Well I've handled one - and it was infact roll stamped M4LE
Additionally I've been issued a M4A1 - I have a pretty good idea that it (the LE6921) is not a "real" M4 - but the point was that was the closest one can come to having a M4 in civilian hands these days.

FWIW - McCoy -- thats not how the one I saw was marked - close but not 100%
The first few 6921's where marked SAFE and SEMI - and had the rasied portions by the safe and auto positions - it also had small (Milspec .156) fire control parts.
