I have to agree. How about the AK wood?

OK after some hard looking I managed to acquire an OEM BAKELITE AK pistol grip for the type 56 (AKM / AK47) in 7.62x39

As I have a full stock model I have the original Norinco CHU wood stock and foregrip.

I like the look of the Soviet Bakelite and may opt for a Bakelite foregrip as well. Im just thinking that the available stocks out there are made for milled receivers...anyone have experience with this? Are teh original Russian handguards laminated wood or bakelite?

Im trying to re-create a true to original Soviet AKM AK47 in 7.62x39
Ive handled original AK47s and the "real" wood rather than Chinsese Chu wood is rather nice.

You will not get a true AK-47 with a stamped receiver. You need laminated wood, no bulge, no indent in the stock like those Bulgarian jobbies. There is great variation in tangs to mount stocks. I gave you ironwood's link. He spells it out.
