Weird M305 Problem

I own two Norinco M305 rifles. A shorty with a synthetic stock and a full-length rifle in a wood stock. I have a weird problem with the full size rifle. For some strange reason, every 20 to 40 rounds, the extractor pops out. I have tried multiple types of ammo, etc. No matter what ammo I try, the bolt comes apart again within 20-40 rounds. The same ammo, same mags etc. work in the shorty with no issues at all. This is a low round count rifle. Only things I have done with it is replace the op spring guide with a stainless one from Marstar, installed a scope mounbt and installed a recoil buffer. I had Al Simmon's in Hamilton take a look and they could not find anything wrong with it. I have examined the bolt and it looks identical to the bolt from the shorty. Nothing out of place or protruding. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any suggested solutions?
 
The extractor stem is probably protruding slightly below the bottom of the bolt. The stem should be a little recessed, if not, then the stem rubs on the next round when retracting and has a tendency to pop out. The fix is to grind or file a little off the bottom of the extractor stem.
 
You won’t be the first to have your bolt self disassembled!

Had this done / happen to me back in 1991 at Mons East Range while shooting Match 5 Service Rifle stage. My bolt extractor popped out while chambering a round

I was shooting a deliberate string slow fire (one round at a time). And I distinctly witnessed that cartridge pry that extractor up and out into the range grass as the bolt travelled forward.

I always keep a couple of spare extractors in my M14 Oh Shzt Kit.

And yes it was a real TRW back then. And it wasn’t a Norinco Plinko. Yup , USGI bolt, too!

Fun fact....

This problem is usually caused by a bad magazine. The right hand feed lip is tweaked and the round is being held just a little too far to the right. This causes it to act as a fulcrum when feeding out of the right side of the mag.

There are a few other reasons it could happen, but this is the most common by a fairly large margin.

how many rounds on this rifle?
have you inspected the extractor for wear ?
-check the detent recess for wear that would allow the detent to slip- if it is misshapen or shows a groove below the detent recess.... replace the extractor
-check the extractor post for damage or wear - if found , replace the extractor
-check the spring and detent- is the detent worn or misshapen? perhaps replace the spring and detent with new parts.

and lastly, another member mentioned the extractor post protrusion which I would check as well

only other comment I have that is probably unrelated to the issue is about the recoil buffer. These don't belong in m14 rifles and mess with the lock up timing. I would advise ditching that component.
 
Thanks for the reply. Very low round count. Maybe 100 - 150 rounds through it. I will check those things you mentioned. Nothing appeared to be out of the ordinary when I looked at the bolt. I will remove the buffer.
