Lynx scope rings?

I hear nothing but bad things about these rings, and I don't know why. I have them on several assorted Brno's and find them nicely made and very solid. Look decent too.

No problem here either with Lynx on several BRNO's...they say they are made in Australia... they are solid steel and work just fine!

I plan on putting a set on my Encore bbl.
oddly enough your message reminded me I have a set of Lynx for the weaver base ... and an Encore ... which I am planning to scope .. I will use the Lynx rings.. thanks for reminding me.

So mounted on a .308 with a Nikon scope, they won't mark it up(scope) and will hold it securely then? I hope so!
... I don't think I would guarantee that any rings will prevent a scope tube from getting marked...4 things you can do to minimize possibility of marring a scope tube.
1) check to see if there are any edges on the rings...burnish them off .. some folks use a lapping bar for this ... go easy as you can open up the dimensions of the rings so that they do not hold properly.
2) make sure the rings are aligned before mounting the scope in them ... the redfield style (still used by Leupold) if the front dovetail was not properly set up you can get ring marks (also don't use the scope as a lever to get the dovetail aligned) same same if you use different height rings or bases that are not correct.
3) use a small strip of scotch tape or shiny electric tape stretched tight around the circumference of the tube where the mounts will be.
4) Avoid the use of excessive force when tightening the ring caps - use special care when mounting some types of rings that "snap" over the tube.

Any bonehead can mar a scope tube by improper assembly of even the finest rings....if you are this way inclined use Burris "Z" rings with the plastic inserst .. they will not elimnate the possibility but might minimize it...

Hey, Thanks AP for the pointers;), I never thought of using electrical tape around the tube, I'll try that. I like the Burris Signature Zee rings too because they come w/the plastic inserts, I'm using these type of rings on my 209x50 bbl to hold my Nikon Omega, And I have a spare set of the Lynx rings which will match the SS .308 bbl.

Funny, all rifles mentioned have been Brno or CZ? No other rifle worthy?

Reason we're all using them is rings are in notoriously short supply for the proprietary dovetails BRNO/CZ uses. The integral dovetails are a remarkable design, but it also limits you. I know of a half dozen guys using Lynx rings on their BRNO/CZ's, none of us have complaints. I'm curious as to what amphib's experience is as well, perhaps their other rings are worse than the CZ dovetail rings...? I certaintly can't fault the ones I have here, and I've got Mark 4 rings in the safe on rifles beside the CZ's.

One of the sets that I'm using is on a CZ452 rimfire, with standard rimfire grooves, so it's not just because they were my only option. They are good looking solid steel rings. I always pick them up at gun shows when I come across them at a good price, even when I don't have a gun specifically in mind for them.
