I was recently given this beast (pump 12) and, as it has been living in a closet for who knows how long, I want to take it apart and clean the goo out.

so the question is- how do I get the barrel off, the bolt out and the action bar disconnected?

thanks,

RC

- I'm assuming that as it looks similar to an old Stevens-Savage pump I have that this CIL was probably made by Savage?

Goto www.gunpartscorp.com then goto the cross reference section in their index on the side. It says it is a Savage 67 or if the barrel is a take down it is a model 30 . The 30 and the 67 strip basically the same only on the TAKE-DOWN model the barrel comes off and on the other the barrel doesn't come off unless you are a gunsmith or equivalent. Then goto http://stevespages.com/page7a.htm then goto SAVAGE SHOTGUNS GOTO MODEL 30 and you will see, you remove the stock, then trigger guard, then just about everything comes out the back, the barrel may or may not come off depending on actual model. DON'T TRY TO TAKE THE TRIGGER ASSEMBLY APART, spray it clean with an aerosol cleaner, then oil. GOOD LUCK

the cil 607 is actually a savage model 67. you're right, it was made by savage springfield. it is not a takedown model.to remove the trigger assembly there is one screw and one pin.try this first. go to your gun shop and buy 1 can maybe 2 cans of birchwood caseys gun scrubber. you don't even have to take out the trigger. spray hell out of every crook and cranny and watch the black gunk pour out. now spray in oil on everything. at the end of the magazine tube ,the mag cap has a screw, remove it and the mag cap degrease and relube mag. spring. i,ve had one since '67. these are an economy line gun and they haven't been made in years.

12M,

I pretty much had it disassembled down to rear stock off, mag tube out but it was driving me nuts trying to figure out how to remove the bolt and bar (why can't they all be built like an 870?).

Still at the point where I've removed the trigger assembly screw and knocked out the pin but the trigger bits still won't come out- it looks like there is a channel on one side that the mechanism slides up and down in. Did get the bolt out though and it's pretty gummed up.

How does one get the wood off the fore end?
