If you fellas ever wanted to replace the factory stock on a Zastava M70 with something nicer, where would you look to? Besides Boyds that is. Any decent stockmakers that ship to Canada?

Thank you RePete, will do when I am ready to go!

Looks wise, they are a tremendously nice looking barreled action (in my opinion). Been kicking around the idea of nicer wood some day.

Post pics when done.

Ill eventually need stock work for a pair of 98 actions

Will do, brybenn! If and when I get around to it! Right now just getting out there and filling the freezer with the thing is costing enough, but perhaps soon.

If you go Boyd's, the Rem 798 stock should be drop in with minimal work. They sold these for a while under that model.

Thanks for the heads up, gents!

Hitzy, appreciate knowing that! Should help, wherever I end up going for it! Really, besides wanting it to look nice, half the battle is just wanting a different buttstock. Love the hawg back for irons but don't dig it so much for scoped shooting....and well, you know what the wood and checkering on a lot of Zastavas looks like.

On the other hand you can bushwhack with it and not feel bad haha.

Marty, thanks for the suggest! Not scared of a little fitting work if need be.

I have the older style Monte Carlo stocks on one of my M70's, and synthetic on the other one. Both are pretty good for glass. Never tried the newer style stocks.

They were both pretty good. Although I can't tell you what it was like to hunt with the synthetic with optics. The lads drilled the holes for the bases so cockeyed it soaked up all the windage on my VX-1 and still wasn't zeroed. Adjustable mounts arrived the day after I left for the hunt...of course lol.

The new Bavarian styles better looking to me (subjective) but its got a low comb, find I have to pick my head up higher than I want to use a scope that clears the bolt handle. Still works, mind. And someone else might think it just right. Certainly seen worse. Like "See through" rings.
