You may never have heard of Ted Morton, but I voted for him to replace Ralph as the conservative leader in Alberta. Ted was too right wing for many Albertans, so he didn't win the leadership. But, he ended up as Minister of Natural Resources. In his first year in office, he has opened up rifle hunting of big game to hunters as young as 12 (with parent's supervision/consent). And, he's opened up Sunday hunting in a bunch of WMU's that were historically closed to Sunday hunting.

Having a hunter-friendly Minister of Natural Resources is a dream come true. He credits hunters with being the most environmentally conscious group in the province.

If I wasn't thrilled enough that the pendulum is finally swinging the other way, I'm sure pumped at learning that our grouse covert is in one of the new areas that's open on Sundays.

Oh I know who Ted Morton is. I too voted for him in our leadership race. Too bad a pack of liberals snuck in and sabotaged what makes this province great. As for the the grouse comment, I have a buddy who will be most pleased. It'll be his first season grousing in Alberta! :D

Sunday hunting already existed in many Northern WMU's. The change has added 4 more just south of the existing ones (north of Edmonton). I hope your buddy lives or is planning to hunt north of here, or he'll just be jealous.

One can always hope I guess.

Never gonna happen. The bar owners would freak over the lost income, 'cause if the guys are out hunting, they aren't in the bars drinking and watching the game.:runaway:

Cheers

They screwed over the rural bars by putting in the smoking ban. They didn't give a crap. From what I understand its going to take a solid push from the SWF to get it done and they don't appear like they want to.

I grew up in BC and this was never an issue we always hunted sundays. Until this province pulls its head out of its socialist temperance old lady a** it will remain a hillbilly joke.

And by the way I love the place and would never move away.

He wasn't too conservative for me, I just figure we should have a born and bred Albertan running the province... not an american.
