First time I'm assembling my own upper that didn't come with a gas block attached.

My barrel arrived today, is the gas port supposed to be drilled completely through the barrel both the top and the bottom or is the gas port normally only drilled into the top of the barrel?

Thanks

It’s only drilled through the top. Is your barrel drilled right through?

Will do anyone recommend a free image hosting site that doesn't require a signup. I was using tinypic before.

Lol definitely only one side. Though it will likely still function fine if it is drilled through both sides, as long as the gas block blocks the other hole. I have a sneaking suspicion that it's not drilled right through though...

It's drilled all the way through you can see through the barrel. Thanks for postimages link

Oh, I was going to say the bottom one is a dimple but nope, not supposed to go through like that. Its a new barrel, I'd send it back.

BCL strikes again...

Is that a BCL barrel??

Yes, it's a BCL 18.6" "Match" grade barrel. Thought I would give it a try for $150. Should have thought more about a faxon. I've emailed the vendor to see if they'll do anything or if I need to go through BCL's warranty department. Figure I'll know by next week what I need to do.

See now, that's not a bug it's a feature.

Just think how much more secure your gas block will be when you get one of the set-screws lined up with the lower gas port.

Why do people keep on giving them money? They made these mistakes when they were NEA, tried to change names and still making major rookie mistakes.

NEA and BCL never did merge and have gone separate ways since about a year ago. Current BCL operations have nothing to do with NEA.

One thing in common, they must have a blind quality control inspector. It's like they don't listen to the complaints, because they are still doing rookie mistakes. Too busy worrying abotu money, than quality parts. That they should take a day or two to inspect parts, before sending out parts. I mean I've had more out of spec Canadian made AR parts, then American.
