1st Model Colts Dragoon

Howdy folks,

Who of our sponsors can bring in a Taylor’s and Company 1st Model Colt Dragoon?
Who here has shot one? I love BP revolvers, and this seems like it would pack a bit more punch out further.

My other suggestion is to go all the way and get the Colt Walker. Most powerful handgun until the 357 was invented.

Depends. The 2nd gen used a lot of uberti parts, but were assembled and fitted by Colt. Later versions I'm not sure what their arrangement was. - dan

That is very interesting to reassert, I had no idea Colt was outsourcing parts like that.

Thanks for the great link! I think the walker may be too huge, but I haven’t handled either, just an 1851 in .36.

I have a Walker too, they are quite a bit bigger than the dragoon’s. - dan

Do the modern repro's still constantly blow the loading lever out of it's retainer and into a chamber jamming cycling or did they fix that issue?

I watched some U Tube video's on the Repo Walker, and yes, If you use a hot charge the leaver swings down.

They tried filling the little tang that hangs down from the barrel "better lock" and although this did help, it still came down . "hot charge".

do like they did back in the day...." a leather strap" LOL
