The SKS just became a moose rifle

CZ 527 is a nice gun

I'd imagine a 123 grain TSX @ 2350 fps should penetrate almost as deep as a 170 grain Partition out of a 30-30, and I believe that is a suitable 100 yard elk/moose cartridge

I guess it would depend on how far you would like you rifle to be effective. I use a 30-06 for everything that needs a tag, but that's just me. Although for bear, it's a bow.

I actually use this exact setup for bush hunting, I prefer a nice bolt action with a rimless case to a lever gun, and wll certainly be picking up some of these bullets.

You wouldn't regret it, such a slick little mauser. Beats the heck out of a .30-30 for carbine work in my books, mine shoots under and inch quite comfortably with .311" 150's when scoped as well. Best part is working the bolt though, that heavily tapered slick little short case feeds through the mauser action like a well oiled .300 H&H with half the stroke. There's a lotta bang for your buck with them, mine was cheap, something just over $700, and yet the adjustable set trigger, detachable high quality single stack mags, excellent metal work and decent walnut set it apart. I also really like the Ruger 77 action, still my favorite for "feel", but their 7.62x39's on a standard short action unfortunately, and I highly prefer the mags and trigger of the CZ.

I just sold my Type 56s pre-ban Norinco Ak ,so I still have some of that killer 7.62X39 ammo left. If any big bear hunters or Elk hunters need some I'm your huckleberry!

Bob:)

A 303/7mm? Must be typo and mean 303 (0.312"). I assume the 7.62x39 will be 0.311".

The good news for me is a TSX for the 303 Brit - two actually, a 123gr and 150gr. But for Deer, not Moose.

Good. But no matter what my SKS is always my MHR or MBR. :D This new ### additional just adds a little more juice in my recipe. Maybe I should start testing 150 gr bullets in my SKS now.

Even though some say "the SKS will always be a peice of s**t", I figure the next shipment to Lever Arms will be gone in less than a month.
