I'm looking to save the two guns from the smelter. I don't want to rip off the widow and I don't really want the guns either. What's a fair price for these? Am I in the ballpark with $350 for the GP100 and $300 for the Security? Do I even have the model names right?
Thanks for any info!

I think that is totally reasonable. 4" revolvers like the GP or 686 are not worth much because they make restricted 4.2"ers. Because the six is out of production, and some guys really like them, I'm tempted to say you have the pricing reversed but as a package deal, that is fair under the circumstances.

Sounds good. Being charitable is expensive and I don't even get a tax receipt out of the deal!
Hopefully I will keep them in circulation even if it costs me a few bucks.

I bought an unfired gp 100 prohib a couple of months ago for $350, and that is what I've seen them go for in the past. I have noticed that prices have been going down lately. Your prices seem about right. Even some desirable .357 snubs have been having trouble getting $400 and 38's I wouldn't pay more than $250 for. It's a shame, but the fact is that since it can't be passed down seems to affect price. People look at what the restricted versions sell for, and as irritating as it is comparing prices just doesn't work. If it was a 4.2 barrel you would be looking at 6ish

who's gonna buy them,....??? the prohib guys allready got more than they can handle. Nice guns.... but a very small market......new liberal guns laws comming......not worth much unfortunately.
Are you going to get your money back ??

Take em in and get them Nurtured, then any one in the family can have Dads guns......on display !!

I think it is foolish to pay for a new barrel and a gunsmith, when you could buy a used 6 in for less, unless you find cheaper barrels than I do.
BTW ,I just bought another smith 19, 4" again, price was where I could not pass it up.

That's fair price as we would offer.

If this is the pair I have seen advertised at my range, what she's asking reflects prices I have seen on a current and a former sponsors' websites. These stores obviously believe that prohib's prices should follow restricted ones.

Think your prices are reasonable for each.
Some/most 12(6) sellers IMHO ask way too much for autos & revolvers in a condensed & shrinking market.

Unless sellers have an exceptional pistol or revolver, provenance, or rarity, 12(6) firearms, mostly regardless of condition, will always sell for 50% or less of the true value.

$350 and $300 are about what an EE ad would be. And it would stay there a long time.

The max I would pay as a buyer would be $300 and $250. That is about what they change hands for.

As a 12.6, I already have all the little guns I want, and multiple examples of some. I have a blue and a stainless Security Six, for example. And 4 M66 Smiths, and a half dozen M36s, M37s and Cobras.

It is a tough market to sell to. What they are worth and what you can get are 2 different things.
