How to stop people from stealing a pop up blind?

Like Galt said, build a cheap blind on the spot. Deer will get used to it and no one will want it. Otherwise, on crown land some scumbags will steal anything of value.

Clearly mark with large letters and permanent marker your name and phone number on the inside of the popup. It might put the thief off if it is clearly marked as well as provide proof that the blind is yours if you manage to find out who took it. Take a photo of the ID markings and popup as well.

Thieves love to steal items that are not marked. If you report an item stolen to police - the first thing they will ask you is "Did you mark it?"
If not, they quickly lose interest in getting involved.

I don't use a pop-up blind but this story makes me think if I did it would be worth writing very large on the blind "STOLEN FROM (my name)" Deer can't read. But I'd have been reluctant to leave anything on public land. If it were on my property there might be paint mines.

You take it home with you.
Thieves will be thieves, the guy on your trail cam isnt ahunter he/she/it is a effen thief !!
Doesnt matter if the blind is on private property or out in the deepest neck of the woods...take it home with you.
Some scumbag who can not leave well enough alone will snap it up ...well just because they can.
I feel the pain too because sometimes time is precious and a pre-scouting trip is organized between life's pleasures and the hard times we experience on occasion.

If you leave your gear on public land it will disappear. Trust no one. Pop up blinds are meant to be mobile, pack in pack out. Doesn’t excuse people stealing it, but what do you expect on public land? Nowadays, bush etiquette is long gone.

assume anything on public land will grow legs

don't leave anything behind that you don't mind losing

Burlap, shipping pallets and a cheap lawn chair is my recommendation

What's the Problem? POST the guys pics. Simple. Period. He stole it on Public land, you have the proof, so why aren't you posting the pics here/FB/Social Media etc. you scared to out him??

I saw on ebay or amazon locking brackets you can put on the hubs to prevent the blind from being folded down. Would be pretty tough to walk out with an open blind.

Collapse it and hide it out there near by, set it up again when you want to use it.
At least that way its hidden much better and you’re not humping it in and out.

Yeah, that's a good idea, but the problem isn't the carrying. I carry a lot more weight than that in and out. The problem is that it's a very tight spot, and if something appears one morning that wasn't there the day before, deer get suspicious.

Playing devils advocate. If your pop-up blind is on your private property and someone stole it that’s absolute BS. If your blind Is on crownland some people might find that offensive. It might be considered by others that you were laying claim to that area. Under no circumstances do I think that gives someone the right to steal your stuff. So I guess what I’m saying is best way to keep your stuff from getting stolen if it’s on crownland is to take it with you when you go.

Well said

OK, I get it, you want comfort, redused rain/wind and such.
Me too, nothing wrong with that. I've never used a pop up blind, but I understand.
Maybe its just not a good spot for your $$$ pop up blind to be at for ***** to steal it
bush blind that spot.
Back against a tree, piece of flat log to sit on, another log to put your feet against, few pine bows stuck in the ground to cover general movement?
You know what you have to do, you don't need us to say what you already know :)

How do I stop the junkies from stealing the spare change from my car when I visit Vancouver?

oh ya..... I remember now..... Leave it You Lose it....

I think that basic rule of life applies to ground blinds too...……
