I am thinking of getting a GP100, but since I got small hand I am not sure it will fit my hand.

As a side note, I don't have any problem with a 1911 commander. I do find it hard to reach for the trigger in DA mode for a Norinco NP34 ( SIG P228 clone ).

The local store don't carry the Ruger so I can't really do the "try and buy" routine.

Thanks.

Without seeing your hands, I can attest that it is a handful. I have big hands, and the hogue grips are the full of my mitts. I'd try to hold one if possible. Maybe the sp101 would fit better?

The Hogue grips that come with the new GP 100's are quite a handful. I suspect you will not like them if you have small hands.

You might want to try the original grips that came with the GP100 which are rubber with a wood panel insert. They would probably fit your hand better. Another possibility is the Uncle Mike's grips but they are not in production any more. I just sold a set here last week but you might be able to find them here on the EE or elsewhere on the web.

Thanks all for the reply.
I would be using the revolver for PPC ( just for fun so no need for a S&W custom ) so it will have to be a 6 shot unfortunately.

Would really appreciate it if someone could measure the distance from the middle face of the trigger to the topmost portion of the backstrap, thanks in advance.

It is not so bad, the local liberal MP got kick out, a Conservative got in instead.

I was asking you to list your club because another member might see it an offer for you to handle his.

Altamont makes smaller rubber grips with wooden panels.
Also have a look at the target grips that can be ordered separately.

Crap! There are many different grips available for this gun and the actual mechanics in the grip is small, so, even if yo had to customize a grip, it would not be a problem. I have short fat fingers and find the GP100 more easy to shoot than my commander 1911 in 45 acp.

I have the same problem. A 1911 commander is fine a standard beretta 92 is a reach. My GP 100 is just right. It has the rubber grips. I love mine and you should to. I shoot the best with it.

My bad, I was in a rush to go pick up the kids after school.

If these are the same size as the original wood/rubber grips they should work well. The original grips are my favourite factory revolver grips by far.
I think they are. My (used) GP100 came with Hogues, which were OK for my medium-sized hands but I didn't like the look of them so I put Altamonts on it and they're very comfortable.

The SP101 in the pic has aftermarket grips from Thailand(?) bought off eBay, but I also have the original Hogues. As people have suggested, the SP101 is certainly smaller but I find recoil more objectionable in it, even with moderate loads (ie 38/44 level.)

Yes, the S&W would also be a fine choice, and a K frame can be fitted with the older-style Magnas (??) and perhaps a grip adaptor. However, I find the mechanics of the GP100 to be very good, although I did a bit of polishing and installed trigger & hammer shims and I think replaced the hammer spring with either a slightly lighter Wolff or Wilson Combat.(Likewise on the SP101, which I bought new.) The feel of the action is different than my Smiths (Model 10, 19, & 14) but it is very smooth. I currently have Pachmayr Presenttions on my Model 19 but although I like the feel and look, they're a bit too large for me, a bit bigger even than the Targets it came with.

Ruger also sells the GP100 Match Champion grips separately.
You might want to ask a local distributor to bring it in.

Aside from the size of the grip I have to ask why you're set on the GP100? I owned both a GP100 with Hogue grip and a S&W 686 with Hogue grip. Much, much preferred the S&W, sold the GP100. Something about the angle and the geometry of the hammer just made the GP100 hard to #### for SA and the recoil was harder to manage. Even though the GP had a fiber optic front sight and I really wanted to like it just couldn't. I know of course that's just personal preference and there are as many fans of the Ruger as there are for the S&W. Just posting my experience with the two of them.
