Rem 783 6.5 CM couple of nice groups.Update

nice. did you bed the stock or have to remove any material from it to free float the barrel? I tried my 783 6.5 in an mdt lss gen 2 but it would not feed from the aics mags. I think I need to use the mdt mags. Only had one load to try, federal power shock 140 gr best group would have been in the 1.5-1.75 inch range. going to try again when I can get a few different loads and a new mag to try.

I got a few sub MOA 5 rnd groups,using Hornady 95 g Vmax.

Tried some 129g interbonds and H4350 , not so good though.

I’m interested in a chassis, just not the current MDT offerings.

There’s an interesting one out of the US A*B firearms but I doubt we’ll get it here.

Get rid of that lead sled and it will probably even do better they are great shooting rifles for the money

There is one issue the stock, it has a really long LOP.
I have the scope mounted as far back as possible and I still have to gooseneck about 3 or4 inches.

What magazine were you having issues with?

I was wanting to try something different.
What do you suggest?

Depends on how far you want to go Caldwells Rock BR is a excellent front rest for under 300 Bucks then a good rear bag with ears
I was not insulting your groups they are good but with a better style front rest and separate rear bag I bet you can do even better But I shoot benchrest and we can tend to get a little silly with our rests and equipment LOL.

Ya, I didn’t take it as an insult, just wondering where to go

I’ve tried the bipod and and didn’t like it.
I kinda liked using the sand bags but didn’t have a rear one.
I’ll look at what you suggested, if I can shoot 1/2 MOA,consistency,I’ll be tickled pink.. ha ha

View attachment 319084Got out again today, had some 129 Hornady interbonds loaded over Varget.
And 95 Vmax loaded over H4895.

The interbonds were meh, grouping around 1 MOA.
The 95 Vmax over 4895 were quite good though.

The weather wasn’t the best, wind gusts and rain.

The last group on Targett was the best except for one flyer, but I’m calling that me ,as the wind was picking up.
Maybe???
I wish I could get those interbonds to perform better:)

These guns are good little shooters. I just nabbed one off the EE for an amazing price for a buddy. This one is in 308. Tossed a random nosler load together just to sight it in for him. I was more than impressed with the results with 0 load development. Makes me want to pick one up to play with.

This gives me hope for mine. I cant seem to get it to group at all. I was trying to heavy of bullets I guess I tried 160s to 120 grains. I'll have to try some lighter pills.
